328i is more than enough for a daily drive, plus the 4cylinder turbo is more fuel efficient. However, if you have the budget, definetely get the 335i with m-sport pack. That estoril blue one is just stunning. |
Have these shown up at BJ yet? I'm sold on the styling, but I wanna test drive one of these first. |
there are two test drive units Posted via RS Mobile |
335 and 328? or 2 of the same model? lol |

I daily drive a 335, which is worth about the same money as an 07-08 750li... would I consider trading for one? Hell no. Mark |
I get what wolfgang is saying though, almost $70,000 for a non-M 3series? BMW pricing is just getting silly now. |
Always has been silly when there were new.. u could pick up a 09 new body style 7 series for about 70k ish + taxes. CPO. 08 body styles go for 40ish to 50. the 7 series is the BMW that depreciates the most, so from money stand point, a bargain compared to new. an 08 335i is about 30 k or so.. half when new. CPO's are actually a pretty good buy imo, compared to honda CPO's or the likes. |
ahh, your right, it did list the n55 as an 2011 and not as 2012. Quote:

I "built" one on BMW's website and the max I could get it to was $64k, and that is a really REALLY fully loaded car. I agree that it seems like a lot of coin for a "3 series", but that 3 series also has every feature that a 7 series could have only 3 short years ago - that car was $120k new not that long ago. The 335 loaded to $64k has heads up display, 4 exterior cameras, active blind spot detection, front and rear PDC, voice activated navigation, full keyless operation, dynamic cruise control, etc. If you load up an Audi A4, a Lexus IS350, a Mercedes C-class, they will all get to that kind of number. Inflation is a bitch! Mark |
the euro version have couple more options: they got rear heated seats (dunno why they dont have them here.. i mean an elantra has them!) and rear sun shades (like the 7) |

The cars at BJ always have dealer add-ons, I remember different cast rims running an extra 4k, BMW performance parts, etc. |
i commited to paying (2000 deposit) msrp at autowest yesterday.. apparently demands high and theres no negotiation room. is this the case at every dealer? Posted via RS Mobile |
I suspect so. There may be some small discount available somewhere but really, just buy it where you like the experience the most, the discount is tiny if there is one to be had relative to the price of the car. That's the price you pay for being the first on the block! Mark |
yepp thats true, they did give me 500 "store credit" though |
An added note if you are still deciding between a 328i Sport vs 335i Sport: On the 328i, the sport line is an additional $1,500 on top of the $43,600 base price. There is no additional charge on the 335i to have sport line. Therefore, the difference when comparing two sport line equipped cars is $6,100 ($51,200 vs $45,100). That being said, I will be choosing a 328i as a demo vs the 335i as I`m curious to test BMW`s attempt at a 4 cyl turbo powerplant. For what it is worth, I have been driving an E90 328i the past week or so. I realize it is an inline 6 and I have not yet tried the new 4cyl turbo, but I find it is more than enough for daily driving around the city and fun times on the freeway. Not once have I ever thought about not upgrading to a more powerful motor. There are so many things that make driving a BMW one of the best experiences out there. Suspension, brakes, steering, balance, luxury features, transmissions... Power isn't everything! Enjoy your new car whatever you decide. |
2.0 turbo with 8 speed auto in X1 is quite peppy... should be nice in 328i |
something to think about: apparently the 328i n20 engine is underrated :fullofwin: that, in addition to fuel efficiency AND dynamics (i4 is def lighter in the front) Video: F30 328i (N20) Dyno Confirms Underrated From Factory - BMW 3-Series Forum (F30 / F32) | F30POST |

But I drove a Z4 with the new turbo 4, and I was really impressed with it. Plenty of power. Didn't feel like a 4 banger. |
I would go 335i no questions about it. The feel and sound of a 335i is way better than the 328. I'm thinking of switching from my 2011 coupe to the 2012 sedan. I'll probably be more interested in doing it only when the M-sport is out. |
