328i or 335i ? (2012 new body sedan)
 

Test drove a new 328i sedan (2012 model) and was blown away. Handling was great, looks stunning inside out. Maybe it's time to change my car.

Hard decision, should I spend the extra to get 335i?

Get a used 2012 335.. best of both worlds

If you want the better performance from the 335i's twin turbo 6 cylinder engine, then buy the 335i. What's your budget?

Personally I would go with the 335i just because of the numbers. If you're using it as a daily within the city then the 328i should be fine. I hate to thread jack but have you thought about the Lexus IS350? I've got a 2007 and it's got tons of power when you need it. I picked it over the 330i because of overall quality, maintenance and reliability.

328 is more than enough for a daily driver
you test drove it and it blew you away why pay more for a bit of performance?

328i - 4 cylinder turbo

whats the price difference? Personally I would go with the 335, but get the car that best suits you. If you like the 328 and it has enough power for you then go for it!

I'm driving an Altima SER 6 speed manual, when I bought it in 2005/06 I chose it for the extra performance. I've pampered it since, but don't feel that I ever truly had the need for that extra performance. This time I'm leaning towards a more practical choice. Yet, I don't know if I'll regret it a few month later, wanting that extra power.

There is also a question of looks, the 335 has dual exhaust pipes, which look better IMO than 328.

Edit: price difference 8k, so it's significant.

Get the 335i if you can. Because you have to ask, it means you'll regret not getting it later on. You don't want to second guess yourself for getting the base model after awhile.

If you have the 328i, you'll always be reminded that you could have had more power even if you don't need it.
If you have the 335i, you have the extra power and even if you don't need it you won't be telling yourself, "oh I don't need this much power".

Depends what you want; are you going to keep it stock? are you going to mod? if you're going to mod, would buying a 335i max you out; aka no money to mod a 335i? or do you have the cash to mod either?

Choosing between 328i and 335i is different this time around.
for e90 it was a no brainer if you had the cash; but with the new turbo 4, you should definitely sit down and think about it.
For a F30, manual, Sports/M-Sports package spec'd 328i and 335i; they'll practically be identical save the engine. But for the less than the difference between the two, you'll be able to bump the 328i to around the power of the 335i. And as a added bonus, the 328i will be lighter (handling!).

A tuned 335i, of course, would be on another level.

If you only like your cars stock, as fast as the new 328i's are, if you have to ask, you're probably going to end up regretting you didn't get the faster 335i.

Have you considered the Sport version of the new 2012?

i had a chance to drive them before they were launched and it actually looks great in the Red Sport version.

the Modern is ok, Luxury adds chrome trim with a different front bumper but the Sport is much more aggressive looking (short of the M-Sport package due this summer).

i think you should go for the 335i instead of the 328 like the others have stated. :)

I like my cars stock, but I usually get them fully loaded.

The car I test drove was sport line, and I agree that it looks best, more aggressive.

I didn't even think about M-Sport, that may be worth the wait! Did they reveal the look of those yet?

I believe there are pictures of a blue one online already. Very aggressive front end, has a blue stripe on the dash as well as the key fob.

with the new f30 328i you already get like 241hp and 258lb of torque. So is an extra 6000$ worth it for the extra 300hp/300lb. Or use some of that 6000$ to get some of the option that you will use and that you like. There are some pretty wow factor options out there for this generation, like the heads up display. And the sound package is a must have too compare to the stock stereo.

Go and test drive a 335i and see the difference, if you really love it and blows you away then there you go, but if its meh, then go with the 328i.

i am excited for you man, getting a new car is always fun and exciting. keep us updated.

The new body style is really growing on me. I'm really liking the 4 cyl turbo. Fuel efficient and quick. Sport trim looks best.

if your thinking that mentality might as well wait for the new m3 because if you have a 335 and a m3 pulls up, you ll hang urself

^ But his choices today don't include the M3 so he doesn't need to worry about that.

But if you have that mentality then when you're in that price territory, there are many other choices too.

from the dash pictures looks like they put the temperature gauge back into the 328i, i guess its because its a turbo engine so its more important, i hated how in the e90 328i there are no temperature gauge which is pretty lame. theres a km/100l gauge instead also useless.

Seems like they are trying to bring the red and blue back into the trend, instead of just black white and silver.

The red or blue looks sick.

I'm heading to the open house this weekend at Autowest to check out the new 3 series. I would wait until the m package is available, the m package looks amazing.

If 8k is significant to you, I assume your budget is screaming to you to get the 28 or to keep your existing car.
