1 time for mochi they only gave us 1 box and sort of played stupid for a bit about owing us another. not sure if they wanted to keep a box for themselves as they were about to close up shop or were too busy on their phones.
another time for pizza we got a bunch of cheese pizzas, no variety, i swear they're saving the other slices to take home
kind of hit or miss sometimes. cakes at a nice bakery is a good deal, or maybe pizza for a quick dinner/lunch next day

I'm pretty sure this is the road to Private Banking.

I’ve taken a look at that app. Mainly old pizza from places like fresh slice or pastries etc from Circle K/7-11/timmies. I haven’t bought anything yet but suspect I will one day if the kids are bugging me for something just to see if it’s decent or not.

TooGoodToGo is not great in Metro Vancouver. Flashfood/Food Hero is a bit more useful for groceries.

My experience with Flashfood is pretty disappointing too. Seems to me that it's mostly Loblaws-based companies selling stuff that would otherwise already be slapped with a quick-sale discount sticker at their stores.

Consistently, the only one that gives a solid experience is the Tim Hortons boxes as long as you're not picky with some of your donuts/muffins.
They're usually 4.99 and they'll just fill up a 6-pack box usually. A few times, they didn't even have a "prepared box" for me and just took a box and threw in a bunch of stuff straight from the rack.
The ones from the pizza places are alright as a make-shift meal-prep. Usually about 9 bucks for the Freshslice places and it'll get you a L/XL box of whatever? eat few slices, the rest into the fridge and re-do in the airfryer. Usually lasts me 2-3 lunches.
Don't do the ones from BubbleTea places, all garbage. Curiousity got the best of me on those ones.

Here are some of my recommends. The best TGTG is prob from Breka, only on the weekends (Sun) though, don't know why. You get like 2 loaves of their cranberry sourdough bread plus 4 of their bake good! JJ Bean is decent. Saint Germaine bakery. Butter bakery (so so), Richmond Daan Go. Broye Cafe (Fraser Street), Creme de la Crumb Bakeshop was good.
All those pizza joints & Timmies' are prob the worst. Like someone said, not the kind of thing you want an excess of. Never tried but IKEA started showing up on the app but do you really want the Swedish meatballs or their breakfast items that they can't sell?

I've gotten prime rib at 50% off, italian sausages for 60% off, etc. Good for freezing and use later.

No pick ups on the weekend, so it ends up on the app.
Cob's has the same arrangement. My elderly neighbor has a friend that works at Cob's that hooks her up with unsellable loaves/buns etc on Sundays. She'll give us some if she has too much. During peak COVID, there was a lot. So much so, I can hand slice a loaf of bread into 1/2” slices perfectly evenly.
