Sorry if its been mentioned before but what is the general purpose of rooting the S3? From what i read you can upload different operating systems? What do you guys recommend and how do i do it ? All i want to do is just get rid of the all this stupid bloatware and im hella confused about rooting. Guess ill keep reading on...

PS. WOW the S3 has a wicked camera. Awesome sharpness in the day. Way better than an average point and shoot IMO..

Hi guys, just purchased a SG3 today.

HUGE problem!!

bring my phone home, set up the system. downloaded a random app. went to camera, and it LAGS LIKE CRAZY. LIKE CRAZY. UNUSABLE. then if i try to exit app, it would lag like crazy, and FINALLY get back to my home screen, and then proceed to lag like crazy.

I tried to get to my settings to see how much ram etc is being used, but never made it that far. lagged TOOOOO bad that it basically froze. restarted phone. phone works fine.

go back into camera app, and AGAIN LAGGGGGGGGG.

repeated this process until i got sick of it, went back to bestbuy (where i purchased it).

showed them the problem, and they said thats wrong too. they did a factory reset, and then its fine.

ok ok, everythings fine.

i go back home, tried camera, its fine. i started setting up phone again, getting the apps i want. then tried camera again. LAGGGGGGGGGGGGG and FREEZING.

also, during the camera lag, the phone would heat up alot more, i guess the processor is trying to work extra hard. but it LAGS soooo bad.

firstly, i highly doubt its the apps. i have these apps on my other phone.

also, the apps i downloaded the first time are not the ones i did this time. but camera still has problems.

anyone experience this? any advice? i'll probably go back to bestbuy again. but since factory reset saves it... not sure how to prove to them. i'll have to download any random app, and show them i guess?...

Yeah, just exchange the phone. It's not like they won't allow you to? and if they try and say "oh but a factory reset fixes everything" just explain to them that you're not going to reset your phone every time you want to use your camera.

then the phone said software update register or whatever. finished that. camera problem happened again. BLARGH...

Okay I've tried both CM10/AOKP's JB ROM for the i747 and at the moment, I would recommend CM10 because there are a lot more customizable option available. It is AOKP's first JB release so it may be different come next release. AOKP is missing features like expandable volume, hold back to kill, and a bunch of stuff in ROM Control.
They're both very smooth though, so if you just want to try it out for the sake of trying JB, either one would be good.

Got an otterbox with my phone, meh its okay .. a little too bulky.

got a cheapo TPU case from amazon and it works pretty well. add a bit of bulk(wont notice on such a slim phone), with good grip.

^Yeah I was looking at that Fosmon case as well! It is exactly like the BoxWave but half the price! I think the Black looks pretty good with the Pebble Blue. I don't recommend the white at all. I had the BoxWave one for the Note and it turned yellow and blue after a few weeks of usage.

^ the volume button and sleep/power button is covered. Not sure if i just got a bad case, but power/sleep is a bit tough to press. volume is fine though.

It also comes with 3 screen protector. so that's a +1.

I hope mine doesn't turn yellow after a couple month. But its cheap, so cannot complain too much.
