I told myself I wouldn't root this phone this time because I wanted the official update come straight to my phone. But if I'm waiting till late November/Christmas time for this update, then I feel like I'm not enjoying my phone to the fullest, which will end up being sold for something new in a month or two anyways.

It's about $5 cheaper at NCIX

Otterbox Commuter Series Case for Samsung Galaxy S III - Glacier - Grey/White

I don't think you should be EITHER of them to be honest but I don't know how well you take care of your phones.

Adding any case to this phone takes away from the beauty and form of it. it's perfect the way it is and if you take care of it, you'll be fine. Worried about scratches? Invisible Shield the back or buy one of those Samsung flip covers.

Still want a case? Then go for a Spigen SGS3 case.

Keep it classy with:
Samsung Galaxy S3 Leather Case Argos Series - GALAXY S3 - Samsung - Cell Phones | SPIGEN SGP

Or, keep it slim with:
Samsung Galaxy S3 Case Neo Hybrid Color Series - GALAXY S3 - Samsung - Cell Phones | SPIGEN SGP

Curious to know if you got your phone as an International model or if it's from a Canadian carrier?

This sounds like a classic time stamp problem. Go to the play store and search TimeStamp and look for an app that provides a solution. There will be many out there, just chose one that you feel is best.

On a side note...couldn't wait for a hopeless OTA update...so I'm officially ROOTED but have made sure that I've done it so it's reveresable and I can receive an OTA later when released if I chose to.

Delete that app and try another one:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...s.smsfix&hl=en

There's no way this can't work really because it's overriding your phone's processes...If you set it up right, it WILL work.

mb_ 11-04-2012 02:16 PM

I used the one on parms post, worked well

Edit: Now I'm having a DST shit problem.. looks like the received time stamp on my SMS fell back an hour extra and sent seems fine. I'm on Rogers.

it happened to my S2 once too. For some reason, the cpu was stuck at MAX frequency while charging, causing it to heat up and charge very slowly. Normally it charges in deep sleep. A reboot fixed it though. No idea why that happened. The thing with Android is, if theres an issue, usually a reboot fixes it.

Anyone know a good LTE /4G -> 2g(edge) toggle app? Trying to make a habit for when i'm at home or at school, to turn off 4g/lte.

If there isn't one in existence, do you guys wish to see some thing like this to happen? Might write a program for it.

Widgetsoid
You can have a whole bar and toggle a bunch of stuff or just have a single network toggle

[GAPPS] [ANDROID] [4.2] + [NEXUS 4] Mega Thread!! [NOV5] - xda-developers

Check this thread out for 4.2 apps that you can use for your rooted S3. Including the sweet new 4.2 keyboard and photosphere mods!

Give KeyMonk Keyboard a try:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...25rLmxhdGluIl0.

Not a big fan of Swype but this keyboard is SUPER fast and intuitive.

Also, Google Gesture is a MUST have for any Android phone:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...cmVzZWFyY2giXQ..

You'll enjoy these apps, I'm sure. Try them out; they're free.

The toggle for 2G/3G option is no different from most app. It will just open your data Mobile Network tab from your settings and from there, you'll have to select it manually still. Still isn't considered a "toggle".

The Play store is setup EXACTLY like the App Store...They have the same categories.

When you go into the play store, click on apps and then swipe left or right to switch between "top grossing" "top downloaded" top free" etc...

One thing I noticed with the app store (apple) is that you can't see what apps you currently own on your phone, unless you wanna connect to itunes to check. I like the fact that the play store allows you to browse " my apps " and select from the list if you have that app deleted

+1 android

Szeto 11-05-2012 09:17 AM

I would recommend ChompSMS, if it hasn't been mentioned before. It's the same developer as the BiteSMS on iphone.

For the 2g/3g/4g toggle thing, I just use the default auto option that turns off LTE and S3 automatically stays on 4g.

Also, I like the fact that I can be on any web-browser and scroll through the Play store in a full screen and view apps that I like and just click n' send them to multiple Android devices.

There is a tab called "purchased" in the iOS App Store. Shows all the apps you've downloaded/purchased. Whether they are on your device or not.
