I haven't kept up but rooting is definitely not the same as unlocking the sim.

I'm pretty sure there are tool kits for rooting already for 4.3. You just can't downgrade back to an old version (with the older firmware) in order to unlock the sim using the 4.1.2 trick after the initial root.

Thought I'd bump this since I recently flashed SlimKat 4.4.2 from SlimBean 4.3.2

If anyone is looking to get away from stock, I suggest SlimBean 4.3.3 for the time being. SlimKat is incomplete compared to SlimBean. That said, it's working great for me. No noticeable increases in speed or stability over SB, but I do like some of the now-working DashClock extensions that needed Kit-Kat.

I just moved back to TW (4.3) after almost 2 years on custom ROMS.

Man does TW suck. I want stability, but the lagginess (which I admit, when I first changed wasn't the main reason) is just over the top now.

Once SlimKat is fully featured, I'll be back there.

My battery life sucks too. Leave my house with 100% and come home with like 25-30% after work and I barely use my phone at work

Gf still has this phone and it doesn't charge beyond 80%. Very odd battery behavior, factory reset hasn't resolved it either.

Im pretty sure she has a fake/non OEM battery that looks like a real Samsung one.

I bought some from Ebay that looks almost identical to the real thing except the NFC dosent work and it never charges beyond 80%.

my real batteries go over 100% no problem. I also noticed the 'fake' batteries don't last as long as the OEM or even the real good aftermarket brands (such as momax)

I've been having battery issues for awhile now. Sometimes I'll plug it in and it won't even charge, just stay at the same percentage. Now the battery life will only last about 2-3 hours if fully charged. Went to a rogers store just now to see what was wrong. The guy who helped me came off like a seriously condescending asshole, basicly told me I don't know what I'm doing with my phone and he can't help me. Well good sir, you just lost a customer.

Anyone got a reccomendation for a good provider/good place to get a battery?

Just keep in mind that one will almost double the thickness of the phone and will not fit standard cases. Definitely looks better than non-OEM extended battery cases, though.

could it possibly be because of the charging cable? I know this was the reason my phone would stay at the same % even though it said it was charging

Maybe. It happens infrequently though. Ordered a new battery though, I could definetly due with a longer battery life. Is it true that if you consistently charge the battery when it's only 50% it can lead to battery issues? The guy at rogers was trying to tell me that if you do this the battery will think it only needs to use that 50% because it never uses the entire battery life. I didn't really think it was true because I've never experienced this with any other battery technology I've ever used and this problem seems like it should have been solved by now with battery technology.

Anyone got their micro sd card corrupted on their samsung phone before? I'm not sure if it's the cheap china made $10 32gb micro sd card that may have caused this.

China makes fake sd cards all the time.

Has anyone replaced the LCD Unit after dropping and breaking their screen?

I would like to hear some honest input from recommended local stores to where I should bring my phone to get it fixed. Please share any good/bad reviews!

cheers
