Mcanulty, Gregory John ..................... 1,006,879.60
Why he doesn't make this much as take home
1. Rent/overhead/supplies
2. 2x receptionist (salary+benefits)
3. Part time RN
4. I assume the international dr that works there part time bills via him
Salary after above: 450k?
After taxes: 275k (MSP only)
Working 12 hour days 11 months per year.... Its a ton of money but then again someone who owns a successful bullshit business probably makes more and works less

For those that are surprised their doctors make a couple hundred thousand per year and think its a lot, it really isn't for the amount of ability and schooling necessary. Taxes (highest income bracket ~50%?), overhead, receptionist, etc take a chunk away. Furthermore, if they were in the states, they would probably be getting a hell of a lot more especially the specialists. Getting into med school is tough and there's a TON of competition.

Wow Its unbelievable how doctors are so under appreciated.
Most of the cardiac surgeons (fraser health) on the list just made just at a million or under. Some of the hours these guys put in are unbelievable. I know when cardiac surgeons are on call they can almost count on not having sleep for days on end. You couldnt pay me enough money to be doing what these guys are doing.
No wonder a fuck ton of doctors are moving down south.

$400k is not much when you take into acct expenses
Rent $4K per month = $48K per yr
admin person = $60k per yr ($45k salary +benefits)
Office supplies = $20k per yr
Licensing fees = $20K per yr
Total = $140K per yr
So, a doctor who billed out $400k per year less costs gets approx. $260K gross pay. For the amount of schooling involved to become a GP, $260K is reasonable. Note, the $260k is fully taxable.

Yeah, for people like you and I doctors may seem like a joke - all you do is walk in, 5 minutes for a prescription about a sore throat or some nasal congestion and you're out. That 5 minutes probably pockets them X amount of dollars billed to MSP and it IS a walk in the park for them.
It's what you DON'T see that makes appreciating a doctor so much more realistic.
Working at a pharmacy in a senior area, it's tough to comprehend how many medications some seniors are on. Sometimes 20+ medications packed in a blister pack that treat all sorts of different conditions. It's the doctor's job to make sure he accounts for every little detail, strength of medication how long they're on them for etc. One slip up, especially when you're dealing with diabetic seniors or seniors with uncontrollable blood pressure, high cholesterol, rheumatoid arthritis and a faulty liver - one slip up and they're a goner.
And this is only with respect to a GP, or family doctors. When you get into surgeons and specialists working 12+ hours a day as well as being on-call for the next 12 hours they're potentially at home, you have docs seeing patients more than their own families.
Realistically speaking, dermatologists (who make on average about 500k) have it the easiest. The rarity of extreme skin conditions are high, and most (85%) of their patients are there for acne treatment or some sort of rare eczema. In these circumstances there is a plethora of creams/ointments that treat these with one visit. Referrals cost the patient nothing but if they want to go in and see one without GP referred, they usually charge upwards of 50-100$. Check-up visits require payments. It's ridiculous how much money dermatologists make for the amount of work they do... But it's an incredibly difficult specialization to get into. It's easier to become a thoracic surgeon than a dermatologist these days.
yep.

533k a year? Jebus. Add in one receptionist and overhead split with another doctor... Does good for himself.

I wonder about people who complain about salaries. For most people, the only thing stopping you from becoming a doctor (or really any other professional) is the initial investment of time and money for school. If your parents can afford that late-model Bimmer, then they can afford to finance your med school bills (or med school in lieu of that Bimmer.)
The rest is hard work. Why shouldn't people be compensated well if they put in the time?

Yue, Frank W...................................... 409,303.07
Can never get an appoitment. It seems like he rarely works. He delivered me from birth 25 years ago too.
I went to him when I was suffering from major depression and anxiety. While he is a good doctor, he never followed through with getting me a referral for a psyche. Eventually a year later decided to see a different doctor, who would spend 30 minutes sessions with me until I was able to see a psyche. Got diagnosed with ADHD and have been anxiety and depression free ever since. But honestly it's such a pain in the ass to get proper help unless you want to pay for it.
I find it hard to go back to my family doctor now. It's always been a 5 minute consort and then he would push me away.

like all dr's and their office staff following up on your own is important. they won't always remember to do certain things, and if you need a referral, sometimes they'll put it out there but it's the other dr's receptionist that's bad and doesn't give a fuck. that happened to me once and it wasn't Yue or his office's fault. the specialist's receptionist thought she was the fucking gatekeeper to who gets to see the specialist and who doesn't.
i can see where you're coming from though. 1 issue i had to go back 3 times and pushed to see a specialist which i eventually got but he was hesitant on referring me until the 3rd time i basically said i'm pretty f'd man painkillers aren't working.

I returned to his office after months of seeing a psyche and a doctor to keep him updated on my medical history and I couldn't even get a consort for 10 minutes for him just to fill out a form so I can get exempt for an overaward from last semester. I even told the waitstaff how important it was to get these papers signed and they wouldn't even take it from me to get it filled out by him.
Fuck man this guy delivered me and it's very frustrating when I have to wait 2 weeks just to get a 10 minute consort, and then when you want to discuss if what I got diagnosed with is legit and his thoughts he told me to just book another appoitment if he wants to talk.
He mostly deals with old patients now, and thats probably why he only does 5 minute consorts as said in a few previous posts about why a GP is important to older patients.
I'm glad I had the courage to go see a new doctor and to be this open with my problem. It really really helps.
