Registration for the Totem TSD rally is open, just sayin'... https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...IyFLw/viewform

The picture of what I think is the front assembly has me thinking, just how universal are the core coilover parts between brands? I know springs are mostly all the same diameter, are the dampers the same diameter with the same thread on them? I'm half curious if I could take a pair of those fronts and toss the camber plates and lower mounts off my BC's on them and away I go.

320icar 10-23-2019 01:44 PM

Don’t think I’ll have the car back from the body shop by then. Hoping to get it back before the big white winter rally

These are inverted monotube, so I don’t think they would be compatible with B.C. racing stuff. That being said they’re all made in Taiwan so you never know.

Btw these are about $3500usd so it’s not a good idea to chop these up lol

underscore 10-23-2019 02:39 PM

I've got the RM Type which is inverted monotube as well, though I'd probably buy a second set of uppers and lowers so I'm not sitting there spinning dampers for ages every time I want to swap setups lol. Ones for a Subaru would probably be closer in length/dampening/etc. I'm mostly just thinking out loud but I'm guessing somebody out there must know if the guts are generic.

320icar 10-23-2019 04:05 PM

If you want, I can get some measurements for you. Threaded insert diameter, shock length, thread pitch etc. Just LMK

underscore 10-23-2019 10:50 PM

Insert diameter, shock length and the top mount stud spacing would be most helpful, thanks!

Replaced the gas powered hood lifts/struts....being my first time it took a bit longer...maybe 20mins for both but super easy to do. Pair of struts were $33 cdn shipped from amazon.

All that was needed was a flathead screwdriver

Keep us updated!!! What do you think of the build quality so far? Does it seem like a rebranded BC Racing?

I'm looking for coilovers now, since a good camber plate kit is ~ $500 USD. Need more camber for better turn in.

FIRST TIME EVER doing an oil change lol... after having sooo many cars and shelling out stupid money to stealerships.

The next time I'm going to do a few things differently but for the most part, it went fine.. just a bit messy. There are sooo many resources on youtube and local forums to help with doing these... i will never go back to a dealer and pay over $100 per car.

I hope you replaced that drain plug. Looks pretty well worn on the edges

nsx042003 11-03-2019 07:01 AM

I can do it in 10-15 min lol don't even need to jack up most of the cars if they aren't lowered.

iambuRnz 11-03-2019 09:38 AM

..looks like somebody's been using the wrong socket size on that drain plug.

how long was the first time ever oil change? must be nice when the oil filter is sitting like that. i learned from a b18b1 where the filter was sideways and would always cause a mess after.

If you're keeping the car for a while consider replacing the drain plug with a Fumoto valve.

:lol

yray 11-04-2019 03:11 PM

get an electric oil pump

https://www.amazon.ca/Cuque-Machine-...motive&sr=1-14

nvm if your filter is at the bottom :lol

trollface 11-05-2019 06:23 AM

If you leave the car running while you remove the plug the oil drains out much faster. I can do mine in 5mins.

I'm not somebody who wrenches, but doesn't that cause major engine damage !? Seems like crazy

bcrdukes 11-05-2019 07:36 AM

It's a pretty common practice. You don't leave the engine running the whole time. Just a short duration and shut it off.

He's joking. Don't ever do this. Leave it for a second too long = engine damage.
