^ seems like a pretty far place and not the safest hood to have to go and drop off used oil. Is it really that satisfying? I mean, to each his/her own but sounds so troublesome tbh. How much do you save, what does that work out to in terms of time and/or gas to Newton and back. |

savings? it's also all about the DIY experience - so easy to do if you take your time. Kirkland 0W20 4.73L $20 (got 2pk on sale $39) Fram XG series oil filter $15 Pack of 50 crush washers $6 Ecogard engine air filter $21 EPauto cabin filter $16 compared to dealer: (Richmond Acura) Oil/filter change (0W-20) - $168.95 + $7.76 Shop Supplies + Taxes Maintenance Minder 2 - $189.95 + $9.78 Shop Supplies + Taxes Replace engine air filter Replace cabin air filter |
Fram :heckno: city recycling centers takes used oil and coolant |
yeah dude, i woudlnt go with fram filters. I got yota OEM filters for my RX and ES for like 8 bucks each at the dealership. Props on the kirkland oil. its good shit |
I just drop off my oil at the local jiffy lube. I recall looking it up and finding that they have to take it and hepp dispose of it. As long as it's a reasonable amount of course. |
Richmond recycle depots all take them too. I drop off my oil / filter and the cardboard box that the Kirkland oil comes in |
Hit the dyno. Kept the boost the same at 8psi, gained 50hp with timing changes lol. Ended up backing the timing down a hair but was at 297hp so added a psi in the last 1000RPM so I could say it was 300hp legitimately. Lol Stock tranny so had no desire to push more boost/torque. https://i.ibb.co/1TMZqgy/IMG-4680.jpg |
Nice to see it on the road. I was there yesterday. Our place is a couple of doors down. |
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...406d192d_b.jpg Rear diff fluid, trans fluid, engine oil, front pads swapped, 6hrs including moving two cars across the street. Diff was underfilled from factory by 1L, seems to be a common thing on these cars. Trans fluid was clean even after 3 track days + 10-20,000kms. Turns out my rear pads are on their way out too, there goes another 300$ :okay: How often you guys getting a 4w alignment done? Only when tires getting chewed up, or every x years? |

I blew the turbo to manifold gasket shortly after I made it home. Never even made a decent pull on the road. Haha. It’s quite the endeavor to change and I no longer have a garage. Figures. |
i only do alignment when the suspension geometry gets touch and everytime i put on brand new tires |
Fram is just fine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the fact you’re changing the oil is more important. These ain’t hand built 100k usd motors |
But but but it’s more expensive than OEM. I don’t get why |
Got all my parts in to fix the Type R. I spent the last 4 hours working on it just to find out that all the hardware I bought is unnecessary and the ones I need, I don't have. Of course, these happen to be the bitch clips that I broke and the ones I didn't break... I have an abundance. Took out the damaged undertray just to find out it wasn't all that damaged and I could've saved $1K lol. Took out the right fender liner, same shit. Wasn't that bad, but I guess I should just replace it since it's missing some necessary components. The right side brake duct wasn't damaged but I had to purchase in a set so I replaced it anyway. Honda stupidly designed it so you have to look through the fog light grille to see what you're doing in there LOL. Left side brake duct I couldn't mount. Turns out the part I was replacing (under tray) doesn't have a mounting point for the brake duct, which I tore out, so I'm gonna have to figure out a backyard brake ducting solution since factory points are long gone. This has been a more frustrating experience working on the Type R than any of my previous BMWs. With BMW, parts were easily accessible (OE options avail) and parts diagrams were actually clear as to what part goes where and how many of x you need for install. Honda? Yeah good luck. I have a pretty good part guy but even then it was pretty difficult to figure out everything I needed, which evidently I don't have everything I needed. |
are you talking about the lower engine cover? The type R is $975, the 1.5 ex turbo $1350 and the regular old non turbo sedan is around $185. I haven't tried to put the cheap one on a type R but it fits on the 1.5 good enough. |

Your mom’s a HVAC guy ! |
Did a drain and fill on my E46's auto transmission this weekend. For those unaware, the transmission fill plug is by the pan, so you have to fill the car while it's on jack stands or on a lift and then top off the fluid while the transmission is warm. Used this neat pump to fill the transmission: https://www.amazon.ca/Manual-Transmi...ae66608f17cf72 |
cleaned the brembos, added a 5 and 10mm spacer, and had my fenders rolled. :lawl: rolled the dice and let a kid i know from the gym roll my fenders for $100 i need to retape the janky lip too but it wasnt hot enough today to pull it off. https://tnstatic.net/attachments/thu...71-jpg.999203/ https://tnstatic.net/attachments/thu...fc-jpg.999204/ https://tnstatic.net/attachments/thu...92-jpg.999205/ https://tnstatic.net/attachments/thu...e2-jpg.999206/ |
