I took my little shit box for tinting today. Nixon at street legal tint took good care of me and I was finished in under 3h for 390 bucks all in. https://i.postimg.cc/T379m0JD/IMG-0270.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/QxqSNhBS/IMG-0266.jpg Looks good all blacked out with 5% limo tint https://i.postimg.cc/qMrjdz7z/IMG-0265.jpg |
Can't tell but did you do the fronts? $390 for 5 windows sounds steep |
^ didn’t touch the fronts at all. Fear of Cain and VIs in Vancouver. Last time I used these guys it was 280. It’s gone up about 100 bucks since 4-5 years ago. Still an amazing job and I’m glad this dude is around. My old tint that they did on the Camrys is still impeccable. Even with the chihuahuas occasionally going nuts and trying to scratch random strangers next to them. Their sharp little claws still did no damage to the tint. |

RMT and physio is like $120/hr now. |
its hard work man. cutting the tint precisely, cleaning the glass, removing some trim pieces in order to get it perfect, and using a hard card to squeegee shit while also using a heat gun to get rid of dimples. I was watching them finish up and honestly, there's an art to it. Not everyone can do this. |
Nixon did the tint on my golf r too |
https://i.postimg.cc/j5MXth3c/IMG-0271.jpg Why are vw oil filters like 31 dollars each!?!??!?! Friggin robbery!!! That lousy metal washer for the drain plug is 4 bucks!??! https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qi...a9b5f79bf23-lq |
Cuz you bought from their parts dept? A Fram would have been $5  |
but ....but .....i dont wanna use a Cram FeelsBadMan https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets...jpg?1573200171 |
Try rockauto? Ships to your door, no surprise fees if you prepay taxes, shipping is fairly quick. |
You can do that fcp thing where you buy one filter and one oil then ship the used one back and get free oil for life like a true Asian |
That’s excellent !!! How I never knew about dis |
Fram is trash |

First kit: $73 Second kit: $68 Cost to ship used oil back using USPS from Seattle: $46 So I'll get $73 in credit back after spending $46 to ship the oil, that'd make me up only $27. IMO it's not really worth the hassle of boxing and bagging it up. I've read that people cram oil into the USPS flat rate large box, but that'd only work if your car uses 6Qt or less of oil, otherwise there's no way you're cramming 1x 5Qt + 2x 1Qt + oil filter into the large box. Others have tried. You can also wait and combine returns and ship other small items but honestly after trying it once, I don't think I'd do it again. I miss how cheap my NA Miata maintenance was. I gave the BMW LM oil but will look to see if good ol' Kirkland oil will suffice. |

Everyone at the shop swears by MANN filters. |
Rockauto Mann/OEM equivalent is like $11... just get it there. |
Is it ? Fuck. I always buy oem parts because I figure it ain’t worth the risk but Toyota oem parts is dirt cheap vs this vw stuff. Like a Toyota oil filter for my ratrolla is only 11 dollars and 8 dollars if it’s for the RX / ES. At that price why bother going after market. Also is there any validity to this VW 508 oil standard ? It’s forcing me to buy Castrol instead of my usual 0w20 Kirkland oil just because of this lame ass requirement. |
bulk buy mahle filters |

Those Porsche C40 / VW 511 00 oils aren't exactly the easiest thing around to find, and it doesn't help that a lot of times the retailers / distributors aren't even aware of the difference between A40 vs C40... If you are going to order some oil for FIY, double check on the bottles / jugs to make sure that they are the right kind that you need. |
So all the crap I’ve read says it really doesn’t have any difference in blend over other 0w20 oils but it will be the first thing the dealership checks for (oil analysis) if you have a warranty claim. Argh that jug of Castrol is a lot more money than Kirkland. I only buy that stuff for the ratrolla. |

The performance even with lots of soot is the other part that Traum mentioned. |
Ford started switching from timing chains to wet timing belts that also drive the oil pump. Makes buying used ones a gamble because previous owner probably didn't use the Ford spec oil. The wrong oil means the belt disintegrates into the oil, clogs up the oil pump, and skips timing. Must use WSS-M2C961-A1 for 5w-30 or WSS-M2C960-A1 for 5w-20 1.0EB, 1.5EB, 2.7EB, 21+ 5.0, Chevy 3.0 Duramax all have it. Supposedly reduces timing chain hammering and works for up to 1100HP, but really impacts real world durability. 3.3 and 3.5EB are fine. |
