If the kids need to snack as we drive, we're taking the wife's car.

No snacks allowed in the M3. Can't do anything about the fingerprints though, just have to live with it.

That's just a matter of discipline and not pile it full of junk.

And I purposely didn't show you the back of the garage

My 997 was gone for the last 4 months getting the engine rebuilt to 4.1L, heads ported, LSD installed, light flywheel and pullies, new shifter cables, few other goodies. Just got it back and decided to upbadge it lol.

Thanks. Wavetrack was on my list but distribution in Canada isn't great. Curious to learn about your driving experience with the LSD!

So far throttle input in corners matters a lot more! Every corner has the opportunity to be a lot more squirrely, most modern 911s are all open diff and setup to be mild mannered in corners.

So you recreated the old widow maker !? What a champ you are. Now you just need a whale tail and you can dunk on all these modern day beetle fuckers with your classic beetle handling

The front brakes on the Grand Cherokee decided to seize on, which is a known issue with the early style of calipers, so I opted to do a swap to the improved ones that the later ones got. It went surprisingly smoothly, bleeding was a pain to do solo but it always is. I tried a vacuum bleeder for the first time and it helped a bit but I think one of those ones that pressurize the master would've been better.

I should probably do the Celica as well while it's in hover mode. I just hate dealing with brake fluid in any way. At least Toyota calipers seem to be decent to work with. The Grand Cherokee has these stupid pieces of crap on the rear:

The bleeder is on the back side. It has that stupid raised tab next to it that the port for the line has too. The lines run back past the bleeder so they get in the way. You can only turn it a fraction of a turn at a time, then you hit the stupid tab and have to flip the wrench. So I'm trying to crack it open and close it off in tiny increments with one hand and hold the bleeder tube onto the nipple with the other while also holding the line out of the way and working blind.

I just sort of vaguely flushed them and called it good enough. All 4 corners felt and smelled the same after some hard braking tests after so it seems fine.

You should be able to crack it open and then with the hose on the bleeder valve, hand twist to open it further. I came across a similar issue today, tho mine is a lot more accessible, but blocked off by a hard line - so incremental movements a well. Just be sure to not drop the drain bottle LOL.

Swapped in DTC60s, courtesy of FCPEuro lol. I went a bit overboard on my brake flush and made sure I really drained 1L (filled 1L) this time and triple checked everything. Glad I did cause I found a huge air bubble in the last 200ml and my brake pedal feels A LOT better now.

Oh to add smt else I did to my car.. Last season I was running 275/245 RE71RS stagger. Season before that I was running 275/235 RS4 stagger (these RS4s are from my 330ci lol). This season.. I'm running 245 RE71RS / 235 RS4 stagger to really use up the balance of my tires LOL. The funny thing is as these were both rears (on a FWD) and fronts (on a RWD), these are virtually brand new (aside from heat cycles lol). If it rains on Friday, I'm sitting out. No way I make the same mistake twice. Cheap fire sale day is gonna end up real fucking expensive otherwise.

In theory yes, on the first one when I cracked it open the first couple little turns it got easier and then it started getting more resistance again, even though I was still loosening it. It was really strange so I chickened out pretty quick on that one lol.

Let me know how you like the DTC-60s. They seem to be the pad of choice among the mid-engine guys with the Porsche club here in Ontario. I have a set of DTC-70s but they are overkill for my car and skill level. CTMP and my car pair nicely as a momentum car, so braking isn't very heavy. Since I've so far been okay running stock pads.

Ummm...interesting wheel/tire setup.

is there enough room to use a pass-through socket/ratchet like this one?

theoretically it would give you the offset to clear the tab that a regular box end or ratcheting box end could not, and may still allow you to attach a hose to the bleeder nipple
Just an idea i thought of HAHA actually never tried

Oh I think they're fantastic. Great feel and bite, a little hard to modulate (but I don't really know what that means), has a lot of stopping power. It's the best pad I've ever used and I've only had to buy it once (I've gone through 4 sets), which is why if you're not married to it on a FCP like system, I'd try something that's not as corrosive to wheels lol. The new EBC SR smt is pretty good, similar bite to a DTC70-80, but crazy good wear characteristics. It's an Enduro super bite pad.
