Anyways, before he leaves on July 10th, im trying to jam in all my lexusususus. THe Sc430 is the last one on the list and i was finally going to address this ABS pump squeal/buzz thats been going on for 7+ years. Now ive talked to all the techs and they say they all have this squeal but have never seen it fail. Well Clublexus forums had 3 members that have had their ABS pumps fail and they lost all assisted braking.
So i decided to have it serviced and he comes back with a RETARDED quote of 6751 dollars for just the part and a total of 7,672.47 for the repair.
I told him to go fuck his sisters cunt. I aint paying 7.6k for an ABS pump.
He even said its super marked up as the price online is only around 1200 usd for the unit.
Toyota part number below:
47050-24060
44785-30040 <- the gasket
Anyone know where i can buy these 2 parts from that's reputable? looking for OEM part not some ching chong remake. |
Aliexpress, your fav place.

i picked up this very cool key cover from ali a few weeks ago. the metal body feels more premium than the factory plastic one.
my wheels finally came today!
mounted summer tires and painted the rusty hubs.

That's tight! How much clearance is there between the caliper and wheel weight? And who ever did the mounting put in the effort for lining up the dot to stem

Hankook Ventus Evo 3?!
Somewhere out there, in a pagoda-shaped Chinese factory, laid a set of Imperial Grand Dragon Spec-R. Ready to transform your ride into an absolute weapon.
But not today. Disappoint.

Well, the inevitable happened.
Was just driving and tried to shift into third and suddenly couldn't. The transmission cable snapped or the linkage popped out. I had a lurking suspicion this was bound to happen from the track days.
Called in for a flat bed and had it towed to the shop. First mechanical failure on the Boxster after 8 years of ownership. |

Agree: the fact you made it more than a couple years and this was the worst that happened, I'd say you more than got your money's worth

Well, I went through the service records which goes as far back as 2004. There are no records that suggest the cables were ever replaced, so we can assume they are original. My cables snapped on my previous MR2s (AW11 and SW20) and I suppose this is simply a wear/tear item, and not a catastrophic failure of any kind, regardless of marque. If anything, I think my track days accelerated its wear and the Porsche Gods decided yesterday was the day to snap them. |

Hope it's an easy fix!
Did a leakdown test and then replaced the coils and plugs on the S2000...
Test results:
Cyl 1 - 2%
Cyl 2 - 15%
Cyl 3 - 5%
Cyl 4 - 2%
Not great for Cyl 2, hoping that it is simply a valve adjustment or something simple that is needed.
The plugs haven't been replaced in a while, I thought the previous owner did them not too long ago but guess not - they were gapped super tight (NGK BKR8EIX but gapped to like 0.29? which is crazy tight considering OE gap is 0.39-0.41) which implied they were the plugs from the big boost setup that was on there 2 owners ago. Swapped them with new BKR7EIX-11s gapped to 0.39, and new Delphi coil packs. Seems to help the car run a bit smoother and fiddled with the K-Pro map to help with idle/low speed issues.
Going to have to spend more time investigating what the heck is going on with Cyl 2 but the car drives well so far...
EDIT: should say the plugs looked OK, nothing too obvious with them except that the gaps were super tight (which may explain the rough idle)

Even 15% isn't the end of the world. I assume you weren't able to tell where the air is leaking out? You should be able to narrow it down to rings, intake valves, or the exhaust valves.

Exhaust is what it sounded like - nothing from dipstick/oil cap/intake side, a bit of a whistle from the exhaust.

I'd say 15% isn't too bad. I'd say monitor it and determine if any necessary action as precaution.
Oh man, the amount of space in that engine bay. |

I had that happen in my Prelude a couple towns away from home and the lowest gear I could get into was third. Of course I hit every red imaginable on the way back.

Of course I hit every red imaginable on the way back. | I'm hoping it's just this, and that the cable itself is still okay. The factory came with plastic retaining clips that will eventually break off due to heat and 20+ years of shifting. This is the best-case scenario because now you can buy aftermarket solutions to resolve this. I just checked - OEM factory cables are over $1000!

Yeah it was a lot of popping the clutch to build up speed without stalling lol.
On the plus side at least they're available if you do need them? Yay?

Broken wiper arm means new car. This one is trashed now. Write off status imminent.
