Im only using about 300gb on my laptop | SSD = Solid State Drive. No moving parts and way faster than a regular spinny drive.
Nothing wrong with the WD Green drive if you're using them for storage. I have 2 of them and they're fine. If you only plan on using the single regular drive get a 1TB WD Black instead.

that ncix one isn't bad for price..if you are only doing mild-moderate overclocking it's decent
memory express bundle isn't really a bundle deal..pretty much retail pricing

The ASUS P8Z68-V Pro GEN3 has onboard sound card, you dont really need to buy a sound card..
what is the benefits of the Cache drive over an SSD drive..
from what I understand, the cache drive (in conjunction with a spiny drive) makes it act as a SSD, but they are reletively the same price, isnt it better to get an SSD?
unless if you have a large capacity drive, like 500gb+.. but what would the read/write speeds be?
right now Im using the WD Raptor 300gb drive as my main drive, for the same price as an SSD, would the Crucial Adrenaline 50gb be better to get over an acutal SSD drive?

i do plan to oc it, and i got the sound card because it was 60% off and i really like music so why not.
and there were no ssd's at the sale, but going to look out for one in the near future because right now i'm only using the drive for storage

a bit of a newb queston here... but if you have a water cooled system does that mean your system won't make any fan noises at all? any other benefits to watercooling?

I started testing cache drives vs Intel's Smart Response. The cache drives are faster, so I recommend them over using a small SSD and Intel's software.
BTW going back to a mechanical HDD for the first time in a while, you realize how fucking SLOW they are... my god! Every little thing takes longer, as it chugs away noisily. Seriously, HDDs are a relic of the past

It reduce noise as you don't have a fan on the block but you still have a fan cooling the radiator. As well you might get a bit of pump noise that's circulating the fluid.

Shorn, if I were you, I would get at least a 500w psu for that system. The video card pulls about 200 watts alone, leaving you only 200w for the rest of your system. I'm sure the power supply will run your computer, but you'll be straining it all the time. Your 400w psu isn't gonna be running at the optimum efficiency, so you'll actually be paying more for your electricity bill (compared to a 500-550w psu) and the fan on your power supply will be ramped up all the time.
And I'm pretty sure the OP knows that the motherboard has onboard audio. It's just that a sound card offers much much better sound quality than onboard. I'm pretty sure you would notice if you heard a computer with a good sound card, especially with good speakers.

That's only on full load which most of the time it isn't.

but even if it is enough i probably will get the 500w then.. i'd prefer it to be more quiet most of the time

wow my motherboard doesn't support ivy bridge.
also i don't know anyone with a sandy bridge cpu so that i can use it and upgrade the BIOS on my mb

gg | If you take it back to NCIX I'm sure they'll be able to flash it for you for free. Kinda odd though. A refurb motherboard would usually come back with the latest BIOS update.
