Your Call: Did Yakupov's celebration go too far?

dumb article to even question whether the celebration crossed the line. :seriously:

It was a big goal, it was appropriate, it got everyone excited (besides the Kings),
it wasn't offensive, nor was he taunting the Kings with it.

I have no problem with the celebration. There was 4.2 seconds remaining and after the disallowed goal, their backs were against the wall. At 18 years old and to score the tying goal like that, I thought it was pretty special. You can see that he loves the game of hockey and the celebration wasn't showboating nor was he taunting the Kings.

If the score was 6-2 Oilers and he had a similar celebration, then I would have a problem with it.

Its not too far if he can back it up with his stats

scoring within 4.2 seconds, 2 goals in 2GP as a rookie + he russian. Russians are known for their over the top celebrations. (Ovie)

The media will make a story out of anything.

They ran a front page story on Crosby walking to the arena this morning

Crosby walks to Winnipeg's NHL arena for a taste of winter

looks like the edited the story to include more to make it at least a sort of informative story. the first version was like 5 paragraphs talking about how its a little chilly in winnipeg.

agreed.
We need more of that in the NHL. More excitement, more noise, more fun.
The last time I brought a cow bell to a Canucks game, security took it away at the door.

:okay:

Yakupov's goal was awesome, and considering how the ref's totally robbed them of Nugent-Hopkins goal 90 seconds earlier, it makes sense why he was so happy.

Props to the Oil for taking down the Kings.

What's wrong with a player showing some passion and excitement for the game? I welcome his enthusiasm and hope to see more of it.

Evander..

Evander Kane has a new haircut and it was generating plenty of buzz on social media on Friday.

The Winnipeg Jets left-winger didn’t go into detail about what the YMCMB stands for or provide any context about what it means to him, but did say it was inspired by rapper Lil Wayne.

The acronym YMCMB apparently stands for Young Money Cash Money Billionaires, which is a combination of Young Money Entertainment, a record label founded by Lil Wayne, and Cash Money Records, the label that originally signed Lil Wayne.

Kane also had EK9 shaved into the back of his head as well.

Earlier this season, Kane had TMT — a reference to The Money Team, an alliance between boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and 50 Cent — shaved into the back of his head as well.

Both haircuts followed the Twitter controversy created after Kane sent out a picture of himself calling Mayweather on the Cash Phone while in Las Vegas.

The Jets face the Penguins on Friday night at MTS Centre and Kane is eager for the match-up.

“They have some high offensive weapons that we’re definitely going to need to be hard against and try to shut down as best we can,” said Kane, who had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. “They have a lot of skill and can make a lot of highlight-reel plays. Cutting down their time and space is going to be key for us.

“They come with a lot of speed, but our speed matches up well with theirs.”

Facing the likes of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin is something Kane has always enjoyed.

“Right when I was 18, I felt that way,” said Kane. “You have to have respect for other teams, but you can’t give them too much respect or they’re going to walk all over you. We definitely respect the Pittsburgh Penguins, but at the same time, we have to play like we can beat them on any given night. We’ll see what happens here tonight.

Anyone with a playnow account, there's some promotions for sports betting. 10 and a 5 dollar promo.

I put 10 bucks on Kassian to score the first goal....payout is 160? Here's to hoping!

I have a friend who worked on a Canadian show that had the top Native Canadian hockey players come for a few days of NHL caliber training etc. with some NHL players/coaches. Apparently Kane was one of them and he has nothing but terrible things to say to the guy. Being completely disrespectful to everyone, expecting the small production to buy him new $800 skates and a $200 for a few hours of ice time rather than bringing his own gear, ditching the production to go to the casino mid day and just being an overall douche. Kinda figured based on how he seems to act on the ice and in interviews. Cocky little sonnoabitch.

Yeah, I used to play against Kane when I was younger and his dad was just like that as well. Talk about letting things get to your head (no pun intended).

Sportsnet is hurting.

The vibe always seems so dead when the Canucks play
