i'm curious as to how the LA Kings clinched with only 55 points. Detroit has 48 points with 4 games to go. if they won all 4 that would give them 56 points and if LA loses all of their last 4 games (incl one against DET), then they are stuck at 55 and therefore would mathematically not make the playoffs. also somehow SJ has 55 points too but not clinched? which factor or tie-breaker am i missing here?

That's a good question...
ROW (regulation/Overtime wins) is the first tiebreaker. Which can explain why Detroit has ROW tiebreaker over SJ but not LA.

But it is :fulloffuck: that I'm calculating Detroit can still get 56pts max. And LA only has 55pts right now. :suspicious:

It has to do with teams playing against each other and the ammount of remaining spots i would assume without even looking at the standings or schedule
