Because it's not just Detroit: Columbus is currently in 8th with 49 points but only three games left, so the best they can do is 55 points, but with 16 ROWs, the best they could do in the tiebreaker is 19 ROWs, well below LA's 23.

Meanwhile with San Jose at 55 points and only 16 ROWs, Columbus could still top them in the tiebreaker column, thus SJS don't clinch yet.

They really need to just make each game worth 3 points.....3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for OT/SO win, 1 point for OT/SO loss; absolutely retarded how one game can have a 3 -point value while another one only gives out 2 points....

So this time around we have a good amount of cdn teams in the playoffs mix .... Chances that the CUP will be won by a cdn team this year?

I think the only team with an arguable chance is Montreal but they are playing pretty bad lately.
