Can't wait till it's back on the road :fullofwin:

godwin 07-09-2014 08:45 AM

Keep and rebuild your old engine if it is salvageable. So at least you get the number matching components on hand.

I just don't have the money or space to do it. Any other time in my life I would and take it as an awesome learning experience. Wife in school, and no garage just makes it impossible.

if you were a bachelor, you'd be able to do it in your living room. lol

hud 91gt 07-09-2014 09:03 AM

You find room for my dining room table, i'll find room for an S52. It may go missing one day though.

There is already a set of wheels in my living room LOL. My wife is understanding, but there are limits to that. I wouldn't want to carry my motor up the stairs too haha. She did make me a small motorsports corner in the living room as well where my old steering wheel and helmet are on display along with some pacific raceways photos and my driving school certificate with some destroyed brake pads.

trollguy 07-09-2014 10:00 AM

hey, that's pretty cool of her!

and yeah, i can imagine carrying a motor up the stairs to be a bit cumbersome :lol

lol noob. no one takes a motor up a flight of stairs. the best way is to remove a window and use a crane to drop it in to your living room. :concentrate:

sucks that your car needs a heart transplant. lol. would have been dope to see you rebuild and build it up so you have a bit more power.

godwin 07-09-2014 10:44 AM

The part that matters is the VIN on the block.. the block itself is not that heavy or big if stripped.. You can probably sell the rest (cam etc) off.

Nice, so you're the one who bought the s52 from my work. It was out of a M Roadster that was hit in the rear. The engine ran perfect!

Put myself down for some FFD EVO2's in 18x10, should look great on the Varis kit :)

(I need more wheels...for fort kickass)

underscore 07-09-2014 03:09 PM

bought some gen 3 cams, a TRD oil cap and a legit HKS SSQV to replace my cheapo.

kakucaekz 07-09-2014 09:47 PM

Yay for gen 3 cams :D You can hear them at idle, it's so cool.

underscore 07-09-2014 10:23 PM

I'm pretty excited to get them in but it's gonna have to wait til this winter, the funny part is I already have a set but these were such a good deal I couldn't pass them up haha. I'm not looking forward to the growing list of work to be done when I finally pull the motor though.

kakucaekz 07-09-2014 10:48 PM

You doing a full on rebuild, or just a refresh on seals and stuff?

Nice! Just out of curiosity, how did you source the motor?

It'll get the new cams, ORC clutch, water pump, timing belt, power steering pump rebuild, hose from hell on earth, upgraded center diff, new shifter bushings, possibly a turbo rebuild and all the gaskets and seals. I need to get an oil pressure guage to determine if I want to do a 98+ 5SFE high pressure oil pump upgrade as well.
