Damn, you've been busy.

Are you sure your driveshaft and trans mount will work for both?

hud 91gt 10-16-2014 08:59 PM

I'm just going by what the interwebz tell's me. It says yes! I'm scared shitless to do it. Hopefully no drama. This car has been a learning experience. From only ever having changed struts, wiring stereos and doing oil changes to full suspension/bushing changes, steering system overhauls, brake overhauls and now adding cooling system and transmission work to the list i'm getting all the boxes ticked. ha

If only I was more patient with reconditioning/restoring the parts it would be a lot prettier :p Living in an apartment sucks sometimes.

@hud_91gt if you want to do a "stock" look let me know,i know someone who has a 73

fliptuner 10-16-2014 09:12 PM

That's cool. Hope it all goes relatively smooth.

I'm not so lucky. My current brake master is where the clutch master is supposed to go. So I have to drill out a reinforcement plate on a donor car and plug weld it into place, then take the pedals off it too. I think the trans tunnel might need some trimming to get the shifter in.

Best way to learn is on your own junk. You can take your time and do things to your standards.

hud 91gt 10-16-2014 09:14 PM

If there was welding involved I wouldn't be attempting it. Seems to be a pretty straight forward process. I envy you. ha

I don't really know what your meaning by this. But right now that is the plan. Keep it looking fairly stock. No gawdy flares, massive front spoilers etc.

underscore 10-16-2014 09:16 PM

auto to manual should be too bad, especially on a RWD car. Just be sure you don't end up with too many spare bolts at the end.

!Tigger 10-16-2014 09:39 PM

i meant the clutch lines and such haha

Please share how you did all those things to your car in an apartment parking. Please share the wisdom

Too late now, i've already ordered it all! Although, I wouldn't mind having a clutch line on hand to copy. Might as well make a new one since it will match all the other new copper nickel brake lines. As for a pedal box form your buddy, unfortunately a '73 box is different then the early box's.

I rent half of a double garage in town. It's tight, but enough room to work around if I use the car as a tool box :p

Just ordered this thing, gun be gd, tomei 60r Ti, 1/4 weight of the stock CBE

Very nice. The fit and finish of the Tomei Ti is amazing...you'll love it. You can lift the entire thing with one finger. I run it on my car and think it's in my top 3 favorite parts on the car...slip fit ftw

cantona 10-22-2014 02:43 PM

Thanks man, from what I've been reading, most people share your opinions too, if anything, a few think its too loud heh. Can't wait for it!

Running any other Tomei parts?

R. Mutt 10-22-2014 02:57 PM

Almost forgot, bought a zeitronix eca kit last week...last thing needed before I go full e85 :neckbeard:

plan is to run the display inside either the coin holder or arm rest

Well you got the silencer so you'll be alright. I find it's reasonable...I've never felt the need to run the silencer. It sounds damn good when you get on it as any titanium system gives than kind of "Tin" metal sound similar to time attack cars.

I just run their cat-back. Their downpipe is 2.75" which Tomei claim is the best size for good torque and response but many believe that's if your keeping stock like pressure. For elevated boost pressure I prefer a true 3" from the o2 down to the tip. They do offer a test pipe as well...probably should have got it as a SS test pipe is surprisingly heavy for its size. Maybe later down the road.

Just picked up this old school wing from Yahoo jpn. Spent a bit of cash and got into a bidding war, but totally worth it.

The car was a "Pentroof/SSS" built GTR nicknamed the "Devil R" and apparently owned by a "Mid Night Club" member.
Been Fanboying out since a won it!

Tomei Expreme Ti 60R Driving - YouTube

The way he drives will determine the amount of unwanted attention he gets.

cantona 10-25-2014 06:23 PM

Yeah, I'm driving pretty conservatively with the 86 so far, partly due to it being my first manual car and also due to it being brand new, but, like TJ said, I can keep the rpms in check I suppose.
