The whole point of a marriage, IMO, is reproduction. Why even marry if you don't want to reproduce with a woman? If I love a woman, I'll spend time with her until we grow apart. It happens, and you don't need a piece of paper telling you to stay together.

mila kunis is actually a jew from the ussr who experienced a lotta racism and is wholesome. as someone who has the exact same background i know many similar girls and they usually arents sluts. they dont date or sleep around and they are moreso like chinese girls than white north americans in lfestyle. i would think tho shes obviously westernized by now like myself, those values are still somewhat intact and have to do with her not being loose
with that said i do agree with jason regarding status in general especially celebrities. however women celebrities often date behind the wcene people who are not in the business and are not as rich. often these marriages last as opposed to the actor ones

There's no shortage of husbands and wives sleeping around on the side.

I don't mean to derail this thread but I don't understand why people get married altogether. It's just a stupid tradition that's done because it's been done for so long. 50% of marriages end in divorce; that's a telling statistic.
If you just live together, and have a child when you can, what's the problem? If you love each other, you'll stay together - if you don't, then just break up. There's no need for wasting time and money with a divorce settlement, no messy support payments, etc. The tax benefits are also basically nothing.
I guess the social stigma of having your children being called bastards and women wanting a ring to show off to their friends overrides what seems to be common sense to me. Basically, a lose-lose situation.

^if u gonna spend your whole life together anyway and dont have a problem with being called husband and wife it:
-pleases your parents
-pleases yiur significant other (of shes like most women and wants a ring)
-makes it easier on taxes, legal stuff etc
-the whole child thing asyou mentioned
-a reasonto have a once in a lifetime celebration that ull remember
to me its a tradition which addds little value on the surface but is still better than not getting married for those reasons. if assuming u do believe in a single monogomous relationship other than a few upfront costs i see marriage as a better choice than not being married
divorces are messy like u said. but people need to not rush into this and need to get prenups. if u have a child and arent married the settlement will be just as messy

Fat, broke guys do not date gorgeous, skinny women. | Improbable but not impossible. You also seem to ignore the fact that people are capable of great change both positively and negatively, so anyone can end up with anyone. There are likely thousands of stories that contradict these two statements. I use the one about the skinny anti-social unpopular kid in highschool that didn't have a date to grad who ended up as an Officer and a pilot in the military and been out with women who've been in Playboy. Oh wait, that was me!
Gridlock has it right that it's about lifestyle, not status. Status is for shallow people. So good for Chris Brown, I'm sure the wife-beater and his whores will be very happy together.

| You're in for a rude awaking if you think because you aren't legally married you get to avoid all that. If you live with someone, have a home and a kid you're still going to be making messy support payments, paying a lawyer and every other shitty experience that comes with a divorce in a relationship like that.
I do agree people shouldn't rush into marriage and if it's not something they don't want to do they shouldn't. It is just a piece of paper, I think the problem is a lot of woman look forward to that big day and it's almost like the day is more important then the marriage. As someone who spent 7 years with someone before getting engaged and another 8 years married (so far) I can tell you marriage doesn't really change the relationship, kids on the other hand.

I'd like to get a chance to live with her for at least a year or two before I decide if I could live with her for the rest of my life.
As for the whole "lawyers, support payments, etc" issue; you definitely don't avoid any of that if you break up while never being married. These days being common-law is grounds to go through just about the same thing as going through a divorce, possibly minus alimony.

So you're calling my predecessors jews, and you say that we live like the Chinese...
I'm not a jew, I despise the way that the Chinese live, and I doubt that I'm on the short end of the stick when it comes to racism.

| Important question: did you date the Playboy model after you did your stint in the military? Women have always loved a man in uniform.

A Playboy Model is just a skank with a fancy title
Mila Kunis is a rich celebrity with status many, many times greater than a "Playboy Model."
Shit, you can find "Playboy Models" waitressing at Vanilla Room in Langley, or working the front desk at Fitness world. Yes, they've posed for one flyer for Playboy Energy Canada or whatever, so they can call themselves Playboy models.
The fact is, despite how much you wish you could date her, Mila Kunis would never slum with someone who is not in the film, music, or elite level sports industries.
I'm just saying this because at such a high level, they don't have time for you to work a 9-5 job, be in school, or otherwise not fit into their lifestyle of travel and luxury living.
