Here we go again... Four high-end cars impounded after speeding through Van

When will these kids learn....

METRO VANCOUVER -- Four friends -- all men in their early 20s -- each were given excessive speeding tickets and had their luxury vehicles impounded early this morning after RCMP caught them street racing at over double the posted speed limits in North Burnaby.

The four Burnaby and Coquitlam men, ranging in age from 21 to 23 years old, were caught by police around 2:20 a.m. speeding west on Highway 1 toward the Ironworker's Memorial Bridge. When an officer caught up to the four near the Cassiar Tunnel they were going over 160 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, according to an RCMP media release.

Three of the four drivers still had their learner's licences and had been issued driving prohibitions in the past two years. Police impounded the cars, which were registered to each driver, and fined the men $483 for excessive speeding.

"I think it's pretty obvious [with] the speeds that they are going - irregardless of the time of day or the traffic conditions - . . . they don't seem to be concerned for their own safety, let alone the public's," said Sgt. Peter Thiessen, spokesman for the Lower Mainland District RCMP.

Thiessen said street racing between young inexperienced drivers, usually men, has been a constant issue in the Lower Mainland over the past 10 years.

It is unknown whether B.C.'s Civil Forfeiture Office will attempt to confiscate the cars permanently, like the high-performance Lamborghini seized last year after an alleged street racing incident that was sold by the office in January.

In 2010, a $235,000 Ferrari impounded after a street race that reached speeds of 200 km/h was forfeited under the Civil Forfeiture Act.

Details on the drivers and cars:

Car # 1: 2011 BMW M3 driven by 22-year-old with a Class 7 Learner's Licence. Previous driving prohibition Dec 29, 2010 to Mar 29, 2011.

Car # 2: 2009 Subaru Impreza driven by 23-year-old with a Class 7 Learner's Licence. Previous prohibitions Aug 29 2008 to Oct 29, 2008 and Oct 7, 2010 to Jan 7, 2011

Car # 3: 2010 Nissan - 370Z driven by 21-year-old with a Class 7 Learner's Licence. Previous prohibition Feb 4, 2010 to Aug 4, 2010

Car # 4: 2008 Porsche - Cayenne driven by 22-year-old with a Class 5 driver's licence.

If you're driving alone with your L, why the fuck would you do anything to even remotely draw attention to yourself? People my age just seem to be getting more stupid every day I read/watch the news.

Woudnt the class 5 be least fucked in this case? Im pretty sure the 3 class 7L's will be more screwed up in this case.

They'll be 30 by the time/ if they get their full class 5.

Subaru Impreza and Nissan 370 = luxury vehicles?

At least there wasn't any R8's this time

And surprisingly....all 4 cars were register to each driver respectively.

Vehicle 4 was a Porsche Cayman.

Meh, Im not too concerned about these 'street racers'. An M3 doing 160 at 2:30am..so what. Looks like the cop was doing 200km/hr+ weaving in and out of traffic to catch up to these guys (they showed dash cam footage from the cruiser on the news).

^ ya I know, but even if they had a full class 5, the media/police would be making the same big deal about it.
