Necro'ing this thread because I just picked up one and am having a great time with it. Decided I had enough with Xbox and PS3, and am going to focus on PC for hardcore gaming, and the wiiu for casual / drinking with buddies type of games. Picked up New Super mario Bros and am loving it haha.

That's what I was thinking too man... Almost all of the games I'd want to play on PS4 or Xb1 are going to be on PC as well, so I don't' see much point. The few exclusives I DO care about are Nintendo. However I am not touching it unless it's under $250

I was going to do that too, but figured it would be nice to have some games the gf and I can play when we chill at my house. Been non-stop gaming since I bought it. Some fun things to do on there, and the miiverse is hilarious. Can't wait to have some drinking buddies over for some multiplayer games.

mos_skeeto 06-22-2013 11:02 PM

What are some GF friendly games? I'm actually getting sick of playing Candy Crush with her lol.

GoneGuru 06-23-2013 02:17 PM

New super mario bros U is really fun, and NintendoLand has some awesome mini games on there to play. My gf and I were having an awesome time with the Pikman Co-Op minigame. Mario Chase minigame is also a good time as well.

GoneGuru 06-25-2013 04:36 PM

Bought Monster Hunter 3 Tri yesterday. Game is fun as fuck.

Bumping this thread from the dead!

I bought a Wii U Deluxe /w Mario/Luigi U around a month ago. It was the perfect purchasing storm for me: it was on sale, I had points to redeem, and I could also earn a bunch of points for further redemption. My wife wanted it for Wii Fit, so I got that with the system, as well. We are very happy with it!

The gamepad is fantastic. I can play games while the wife watches TV. She plays on the Wii Fit, daily. My wife says she gets a better workout vs the treadmill. It's also very engaging, so you're not counting the minutes, and end up working out a lot.

I just got Mario Kart 8. Nintendo has done it again. This is a very polished game, and most importantly, it is extremely fun! We're still trying to get all the stars for 50cc, which is no longer a walk in the park. There's actually some decent challenge on the easiest class. Everything about this game culminates to a big fucking grin on your face. It is awesome. We played it so much that we had Mario Kart dreams. Oh yeah, don't mess with Luigi. He'll fuck you up:

It's a good time to get a Wii U and Mario Kart 8. There are a lot of bonuses. The purchase of Mario Kart 8 is accompanied by free game (Pikmin 3, Zelda: Windwaker, Super Mario U, and Wii Party U). Also, if you purchased a Deluxe Set Wii U (32GB), then you also get eShop credit from the free game download. I downloaded Pikmin 3, which was worth 599 points that converted to $5 eShop credit. If you purchased any games from the eShop since Nov 2013, then you'll have even more points! I've been taking advantage of Shoppers Drug Mart's Optimum offers, as well. They regularly have points multiplier bonuses, and that helps to build redemptions quickly.

If you are looking for FUN the wii U is where its at.

Mario Kart 8 is AMAZING on it.

Nintendo has refurb Wii Us on their website for 199 and $20 for a wiimote controller with nunchucks.

I heard Nintendo Refurbs are practically brand new. Apple refurb style.

Mr.HappySilp 08-01-2014 12:55 PM

Going to buy a Wii U today!

Mr.HappySilp 08-01-2014 11:01 PM

What's some good party games? Already got Mario kart, Mario bros u, just dance 4 and wii fit. Planning on either Nintendoland or wii party.

Need to find my wii remotes!

personally i love the mario 3d its hella fun and frustrating at the same time

Vansterdam 08-03-2014 01:10 PM

im waiting for another price drop before I get mine lol

SkinnyPupp 08-03-2014 06:42 PM

Me too. IMO this is the console to have, along with a gaming PC. XBOX One and PS4 are pointless

Gumby 08-05-2014 11:21 AM

With Super Smash Bros Wii U coming out in the holiday season, I don't think we will see a price drop for the console in 2014. :(

I am debating if I should have reverse a copy for not......

Mr.HappySilp 08-11-2014 12:37 PM

Reverse a copy of Super Smash Bros

LOL all the accessories adds up really fast.
I purchase
2 remotes
4 Nunchuk
2 Wii U Pro Controller
2 Insignia Wii U Charging Station
Games I got so far:
Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U (included when I purchase the Wii U)
Wii Sports Club
Mario Kart 8
Nintendoland Luigi Remote Bundle (Remote included)
Wii Party U (extra remote included)
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Just Dance 2014
New Super Mario Bros. U
Batman: Arkham Origins
Just Dance 4

So far I really like New Super Mario Bros U and Wii Fit U and Mario Kart 8. Wii Fit is actually really fun. Too bad I am really out of shape lol.

Thinking of getting
Super Mario 3D World (Nintendo Wii U)
Pikmin 3 (Nintendo Wii U)

Mario Kart 8 DLCs announced!

Quote:

http://www.polygon.com/2014/8/26/607...l-crossing-dlc
The Mario Kart franchise has always been about racing with characters from the Mario universe — until now. With two upcoming downloadable content packs, Mario Kart 8 players will be able to add The Legend of Zelda's Link and the villager and Isabelle from Animal Crossing, according to a post from Nintendo's official UK store.

The first pack of the two adds Link, cat-suit Peach and tanooki-suit Mario, as well as four vehicles and eight tracks. It will be available in November of this year.

Pack 2, available in May 2015, adds Animal Crossing's Villager, Isabelle from Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the skeletal Dry Bowser, four vehicles and eight tracks.

"Each Add On Content pack will contain two new cups, each with four courses, which, in total, increases the number of available courses by 50 percent," the site reads. "The Add On Content packs include classics like Wario's Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii, as well as new courses, some taking place in the worlds of The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing. New vehicles will also arrive with each pack, including the Blue Falcon kart representing the F-Zero franchise in the first AOC pack."

Both packs are listed for £7.

Those who purchase both DLC packs will receive additional content as well: eight new colors each for Yoshi and Shy Guy. Those who pre-purchase those packs gain access to the new colors immediately.

For more on Mario Kart 8, check out our review. In May, Mario Kart director Kosuke Yabuki said he was open to adding non-Mario universe characters to the kart-racing franchise.

Take my money, Nintendo!!!

Mr.HappySilp 08-27-2014 10:42 AM

Wii fit is keeping me busy. Is a pretty fun exercise game. Actually is fun and hard lol. My balance is pretty bad so playing those games is not easy at all.
