Yeah with the remote work, or in the construction/forestry trades seems like it would be an incredible place to live. That's kind of it though unless you are willing to take a long commute. That said I'd way rather live in Squamish and go DT than live in like delta and work dt.

Hondaracer 06-30-2023 09:00 AM

My wife worked with a guy who biked, sometimes daily, from Squamish to Marine way and Glenlyon lol..

No thanks lol

westopher 06-30-2023 09:35 AM

Absolutely not for me, but fucking rights for him if he enjoyed it. Guy could probably tow a boat on his bike after doing that so many times.

GLOW 06-30-2023 10:50 AM

my knees are hurting just thinking about that

small penthouse the it has a pleasant view...

17% property taxes?! :heckno:

Fuck off, no way, on a road bike?

The amount of elevation gain both ways is insane, that guy must've been a total specimen.

I don't buy it, that's a whole day of biking each way almost.

GLOW 06-30-2023 12:31 PM

maybe it was on an e-bike to take care of hills Kappa

Razor Ramon HG 06-30-2023 12:33 PM

I thought he meant on a motorcycle, lol

I can’t remember the specifics but there were days apparently he’d go both ways. Otherwise he had a place to stay in Burnaby and then would either get a ride back to the north shore and ride from there or a lift all the way.

The company was kind of this yuppy start up full of engineers etc. and like 3/4 od the 100 employees or so would all be riding their bikes to work during bike to work week etc.

I wasn’t there so can’t confirm or deny but seemed like it was a thing lol (the Squamish guy)

and the Squamish unit is 700+ sq ft. (But the Squamish unit also has a 17% higher property tax.)

This looks like a good property relatively speaking. Crazy what the prices are right now. I guess just getting your foot into the door is better than not.

Qmx323 06-30-2023 01:35 PM

Loving the balcony space too, easy to configure space with decent privacy.

I'd be out there all the time catchin' rays

Looking at this Burnaby unit again, the whole thing seems a little dysfunctional. There are no doors between the "bedroom" and the rest of the unit, so however the food smells like will make its way everywhere in the home. The bedroom closet door design is just wrong, since you wouldn't be able to open either of those door as soon as you put a double or queen bed into the room. Why was it not done using slide doors?

With the main living area / open kitchen space, do you put a table in there? or are you supposed to skip that? Do you still put a couch of some sort in the living room area?

I know the unit is air-conditioned, but I find it weird that there does not appear to be any windows in the unit -- it only has 2 ground-to-ceiling sliding doors. So I just find that weird.

Nah, your correct, the modern day 1 bedroom is a bullshit studio.
My buddy also lives in a "1 bedroom" and has one of those half walls where you can walk through the left or right side into the "bedroom"

It's just the new age of "townhomes" being a door to the street with no private garage and people above you. And 1 beds, are a nook, in a 350sqft unit

Soon were gonna have 1 bed units where the living room is the bedroom

mikemhg 06-30-2023 03:52 PM

The fact that something that fucking small is selling for $600K+ in this small ass city is insane.

That is a glorified studio, what a fucking joke.

Hondaracer 06-30-2023 04:28 PM

In some of those Brentwood towers I’ve been in some units have legitimately zero “living space”

Your entertaining area is you and guests standing around your kitchen counter. If you put a couch in some of these spaces you’d have to step over the arm rest to get out to the “patio” l

Also this is just me but it appears there's enough space for the washer and dryer to be side by side. I hate stacked units and would gladly give up that closet space, have them side by side and be able to have an area above the appliances to fold clothes instead

Badhobz 07-01-2023 02:48 PM

What happen to mg1 !? did he get arrested at Bellingham costco ?

Noticed this too. Hope he's ok.

It appears to me that the washer/dryer combo there is at least the normal full size ones, instead of the dinky ones that are specifically made for apartments. That strikes me as being a little weird too, since I would have expected a small apartment like that to use the smaller apartment-sized washer/dryer combo.

But hey, having lived with those tiny apartment-sized washer/dryer for a few years, I hate their dinky sizes with a vengeance.

https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/2...oad-white-rock

Apartment building for sale in White Rock. 24 one bedroom units 2 two bedroom units and 2 two bedroom penthouse suites. for 7.9 mill. Looks good but then you look at the numbers. https://goodmanreport.com/content/159.pdf . That's less than $1000 a month per unit. The only way that building is going to have a vacancy is when someone dies.

6thGear. 07-01-2023 05:10 PM

It's on CLS. It's already shit

donk. 07-01-2023 07:32 PM

Buy it, split the units into singles, sell as singles, 100k profit per unit

blkgsr 07-04-2023 12:13 PM

"All units with excellent tenants (most at or above market rate)"

ya don't think so

bcedhk 07-04-2023 12:25 PM

probably market rates from 1987

Great68 07-04-2023 02:57 PM

So looks like the new next door neighbours have moved in on the weekend.

The two lesbians are out, and now a man-bun wearing, prius driving dude is in...

LOL

68style 07-04-2023 03:43 PM

He will love you! His Prius can literally run off the unburnt fuel in the exhaust fumes of your Mustang when you get it back!
