Arranged marriages worked 40 years ago when the guy would come from the US, Canada, or the UK, find a village girl, get married, take her back to where he was from. he worked, she had kids, and was a housewife. Nowadays, there's not many village girls left, most women work and don't want to depend on a guy so current arranged marriages are more about families networking and finding someone decent. Personally, no one I know has had an arranged marriage in years.
And another reason for arrange marriages was the first and second generations cared more about marrying within their own kind or caste but that’s changing finding someone who was in the same caste as you however times are changing. My nephews and nieces are dating non-south asians, and interracial marriages in South Asian communities are trending up.
Even for me, with two young boys, I don’t see them marrying south Asian. My son already has a bunch of Asian girls chasing after him and he’s only seven lol.
And the tractor is a Jatt Punjabi thing. Jatts are traditionally farmers, so it's a nostalgic thing.

We were in the locker room after a hockey game and I asked this viet guy around my age ~37 and asked if he was married, he laughed and he said kind of.
I inquired and he legit told me he's married to this vietnamese girl from vietnam but it was arranged in the sense that she paid him... $75k to marry her. Half up front and half later. I thought he was full of shit, but his buddies assured me he was telling the truth.
Apparently this is common and it seems like $75k is cheap for the girl. I'm thinking how the heck did a girl from vietnam even come up with $75k to begin with.

How long does the law require them to be married in order for the wife to have Canadian citizenship. That's what I presume this is all about.
Do they divorce afterwards? Or stay together?

A year I think, in most cases I know of they are still together legally but live apart etc.
Think they just kinda stay together until shit really hits the fan and whoever needed their PR got it lol..
The viet women in these situations cook, clean, basically stay at home house wives/slaves until the friends tell them to get the snotty North American attitude and start fucking around lol

There are multiple stages and I had 2 friend (one girl / one guy) in Canada who went some ways.
You get a sum, then you fly there (viet) and they do a full on video / fake dinner reception for you. ( I swear I still have the video link of my guy friend who went thru with this).
You even get the video of your 'wedding' with your fake parents on both sides. Then you have to sustain the "relationship" and ensure the audit / canada side is all good. You get another sum when the 'wife' lands in Canada. You get final payment when she gets her residences. You do not have to live with her.

One of the worse underestimated risk is that she becomes your liability. If she has a bad credit score, it's on you. If she does anything, you're sort of on the hook.
Hk movie was made before; 金都 by the chick in cookies girl band; she wanted to get married but forgot / has to deal with ending the fake marriage that didn't end / was in limbo and was still 'married' causing issues where she couldn't start a new marriage.

I assume there is a pre nup because after a year, the law sees you as married and the other party (one 'buying' the citizenship by 'marriage') could ask for half your assets.
You don't have to live with her? Thought that was part of the $75K benefits . That's why you choose a pretty one.

Those people are actually taking a big risk even with planned divorce. My memory is a bit fuzzy on the details but my memory of PR from friends at Immigration Canada that investigate these out of country marriages is that you sign up to be responsible for them for 5 years even if you divorce, so if the person applies for any credits or welfare (as an example) you are on the hook to pay for it and that includes racking up debt and bankruptcy issues. Responsibility doesn’t just end with divorce.
