So my wife went and visited a friend she hadn’t seen in a while, she purchased a brand new 3 bedroom pre-sale at Lakewood and first ave. I’m assuming it’s going to be one of those new 4-5-6 storey type buildings going up there She said that part of this development, they have a floor plan in which you can add a door and turn one of the bedrooms into a rentable suite? Is that even legal? Lol |
that hill on 1st ave!?!??! that place is noisy as fuck. i used to ride my bicycle along lakewood drive (to and fro Tech) and that intersection was always a gong show. |
On the downslope heading west after nanaimo I believe There used to be that weird house on the north west corner that had its windows papered up for decades |
Probably more for short term rentals. We were looking at some of the townhouses in north van that had lock off suites, in hopes we could have my mom move in and give us free childcare, but there's no way a grown adult could live in those "suites." They were more like a shitty dorm room. |

Where is the separate door? In the common hallway or on like the foyer of the unit? |

we could buy a second unit, but I don't think I ever will. a) being a landlord sounds like it sucks b) your "investment" is somebody else's basic need if you want to grab a ski cabin and rent it out when you're not using it - all the power to you. I would like to do this. but trying to figure out how much profit you can make off of somebody's basic housing requirement by grabbing a bunch of pre-sale condos - not so much. i don't want anybody to lose their homes during this downturn - but lose your 1st, 2nd or 3rd investment place because you're over extended? couldn't care less. Hopefully the stock returns to a cooler market where people can buy their homes. |

Well thats what us poor people ate back then... That and hundreds of pounds of foodie goodie shrimp and occasional steamed oysters that you needed to kick an ah mo out of the way to get. |

Hopefully I did it right, but sacrifices were made, especially when you're a car enthusiast. |

im proud of growing up in the hood man. im always happy to see people who make it, and unlike most haters nowadays im really actually happy for people when they have excess cash to blow on stupid shit like cars, watches, RE. Its probably because we were so dirt ass poor growing up, you really appreciate the little things. I still remember at 10 years old i wanted this yellow beetle (bumblebee) transformer, my mom was so damn poor she couldnt afford this 10 dollar toy and i whined about it at zellers. she just smacked me upside the head and told me to shut up. that kind of memory stays with you. So when i see people my age driving nice cars, buying houses and shit, im genuinely happy for them. I dont think their kids will go through what we went through (ripping off bus drivers by dropping in 3 nickles instead of 3 quarters). |

I'm just glad to have: 1. Made it out of high school alive 2. Managed to (barely) graduate high school 3. Somehow managed to get past a post secondary education :lol (still unbelievable) Although to think back, would we have done better at another school, or as Gerbs put it, "a good school?" I don't know, and truthfully, I don't think it matters. We turned out okay. I think. :ilied: |

Speaking of good old chinese spots, anyone else remember the chinese stall in the old Brentwood food court right by the corner by the windows? Overfilled chinese food for like $10 (if I remember correctly) |
