It would take much longer than 3 months to renovate a room used for equipment sterilization not to mention bid requirements due to the 6 figure project value.

3 months after completion, they were hired to tear it down and convert it to something else.

I can almost guarantee he used Zebiak, a company that does moves and lift-ups still today. They’ve been around forever and the old man who used to run it in the 80’s etc. had a reputation for doing virtually any job
They were the only player in town for a longgg time. My dad said he met the old man ones before and the guy was so frugal he used an old underwear elastic waist band as a rubber band to hold documents together lol

68style is right, the child care benefit as with most tax breaks are utilized the most by wealthy, and those that don't need it. The problem isn't ghetto natives/whites using the child tax benefit to be welfare mamas collecting $3K a month with a mountain of babies running around.
The abuse is the landed Chinese/Indian immigrant that brings or bears their children here while living in a $2 million home in Kerrisdale while declaring sub $10K income. That issue was common in the news a few years back of the complete abuse. Imagine getting a $6K tax return because you're declaring poverty income while living in a multi-million dollar home.
Another issue of the death of a thousand cuts exists in the medical system, this report came out today: https://bc.ctvnews.ca/growing-number...tals-1.6960555 "About one third of the invoices issued to “non-residents of Canada” went unpaid across the region"
That's an insane statistic. How can someone visit this country without proving they carry adequate health insurance coverage? Hell, you can't even visit a country like Cuba without proving you carry a minimum level of insurance coverage by dollar amount, and that's a little cash-strapped island in the Caribbean.
How do we not carry more robust protocols? This country is bleeding its own tax base by death of a thousand cuts here.

It can’t be govt. incompetence bro, it’s just your opinion that’s wrong!
No one would ever have the balls to do so, but take a camera into Surrey ER’s or Richmond food banks, the images will tell ya all you need to know

Remember a few years ago all those people screaming hysterics about Chinese birth hotels and anchor babies? Well, the health care system here is so fucked I doubt any of them will be coming back to Canada to "steal our healthcare" any longer. |

No one would ever have the balls to do so, but take a camera into Surrey ER’s or Richmond food banks, the images will tell ya all you need to know | I'm sure this is directed at me because I do stand up for the government on situations I have knowledge of, but I was the one who pointed out the failing of government not improving the child tax system. I say that confidently because I literally worked there and I know what I'm talking about.
In my mind, a number of things could be done to mitigate this, the primary one to me (and this is outside my expertise, so maybe it isn't possible?) would be to consider the value of a person's residential address having some bearing on benefits they receive. That seems like a prime candidate for a way to cut a lot of people off to me.
I'm sure someone can cry and say they really are poor and just live with relatives, but if your primary expense (lodging) is being covered then your already a massive leg up... and if you have that much $ wrapped up in property and really are broke, then sell it and buy something smaller. It's no more unfair than telling everyone else they can't live in anything bigger than a shoebox condo because it's unaffordable.

It wasn’t it was to Mikes point where hospitals etc. and the abuse of the system there
I think that’s far worse than the project overruns etc. for the general public

There's a loophole in the travel policy that is being exploited, and all it takes is one manager to say yes and the rest have to follow suit. My wife thinks it's absurd but she had to approve it too.

Hotel rooms? Jeez. We need C-level approvals before we can even expense a $20 lunch.

It's no more unfair than telling everyone else they can't live in anything bigger than a shoebox condo because it's unaffordable. | It doesn't work. People who are currently exploiting the benefit could potentially put their house in a trust and "rent" it from the trust or whatever as it technically isn't theirs.
The truth is, regardless how you implement a subsidy/benefit system, there'd be people who can exploit it one way or the other.
TBH, it might make more sense for us to start taxing differently. Make every expense deductible.
I have always advocated it and it's the only way I found to truly help the economy in a macroeconomic sense.
A rich family would try to shift most of their money into deductible expenses. For one, they have the resources to do that, and for two, it makes incredible sense tax-wise.
Imagine giving that same system usually only available to riches through their $600/hr accountant and lawyers to regular Joes.

Not every kid that does to private school want's to go to an ivy. My nephew who went to one of the best private schools in van didn't. His dream was to play in the NHL and the school had great hockey program. After high school he spent 4 year in the WHL. Didn't make the NHL but was recruited by universities in Canada. Ended up staying local. After uni if he want sto keep playing he may go to Europe. Canada's schools are just as good as anywhere else and a lot better than schools in the US. | Somehow many missed what I stated even though I put it as soon as I jumped into the kiddo education topic:
"What I'm seeking is for schools or the society as a whole to teach kids to be competitive, be eager to learn and excel and never be complacent."
Our education system, heck, even our overall environment is not meant for people who are competitive. The most competitive people I know of in Canada all moved to the US. Those who are just ok at least moved to Toronto.
I've always told my kids, the real life is not as simple as their school and the society here in Canada want you to believe.
And I think the lack of such training... or worse, the understanding on becoming competitive is the reason why I think it makes sense on moving.

^ this part, I get. Here in Canada, the removal of letter grade system for grades up to 9. C'mon ... do we need to soften our gen ZZ or whatever they are at now, anymore? This participation ribbon approach is what is going to create a lazy ass NA generation that will be lapped by Asians and others.

I'm not for or against removal of the letter grade system. Lots of teachers I talked to says it's been hard dealing with parents but also at the same time they see benefits on the kids.
Studies have shown that the old school system is not a good fit for boys as girls and boys emotional and intellectual growth are different. It disproportionate favours the girls growth path.
