I learned something new about LTE and DC-HSPA+ reading this article.

Looks like LTE is kind of in a state where standards are still being determined, and to put it simply, Google/LG decided to avoid the cluster fuck this time around, after getting burned with the Galaxy Nexus LTE.

also explains that DC-HSPA+ is the reason why the rest of the world has been slow to adopt LTE.

Lowered Margin
Google / LG should still make about 150 at 359.

Do want to see the BOM for the nexus 4. 40% profit margin seems a lot.

I doubt they are making much profit on the phones at all, like the nexus 7. I think it's more about getting the android experience out there, and not so much about raking in the cash. If the phone was 600 bucks a lot of people out there would just say fuck it and buy an iPhone.

Hope it's just $50 haha. Isn't the note going to cost $200 more? I don't see any difference between the aws and model that rogers/etc. sell. And what's better about the aws version of the s3 anyways?

It'll work with wind.

Also, AWS phones always has fewer units produced which means a higher cost for them even from the factory. It's what we get for saving money on our bills.

Maybe a stupid question but I'm trying to decide between a used Galaxy Nexus, Used S3 or this new phone. Replaceable batteries are a big deal for me since they are liable to lose capacity overtime.

Can anyone confirm whether the batteries in this phone are user replaceable?

You'll have to disassemble the phone to replace the battery. If replaceable batteries are important get the nexus or the s3. I've never had an issue with the original battery before so I don't mind.

Personally I prefer the Samsung builds over LG, (probably just cause it's easier to root and things) but since those two are both replaceable its just a matter of how much you want to spend, I use a GNex, while my sister has the S3, bigger, more powerful phone by far, but it'll just come down to you liking the feel.

I based my calculation from iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 which in parts is about 200 dollars each and that excludes the wholesale prices on the parts that Apple most likely get.

So with Google and the mass order wholesale price in parts it is possible if Apple iPhone cost $200 in parts
Of course I'm excluding costs such as R&D, Shipment and other related expenses

I assume though that a couple of screws and some time will allow you to access the battery?
