I actually think it's appropriate. Stance car looks cool but it's not functional. This is the only time when a car is stances appropriately, on a die cast car that doesn't move lmao.

Any word on pricing and color?

thumper 07-22-2016 11:25 AM

not really. just that pic and a possible release date before end of this year. i saw it on the autoart uk facebook page, so we know it's real (unless copyright issues kill it).

thumper 07-22-2016 05:01 PM

finally. i waited so stupid long for this ...

Ideas for cleaning your diecast models

Hi Guys,

You probably know this by now, but one of the best solutions to get rid of dust from your models, i found so far is compressed Air. The compressed air cans used for cleaning computer. I used this alot before I take pictures of my cars.

http://img.ncix.com/images/56439_l.jpg

Along with a microfiber cloth to wipe off finger prints off the clear plastics and body.

And also water along with a q-tip is the best solution for cleaning off dust from the hard to reach areas.

I hope this tip will help you all keep your models showroom condition.

Thanks

William

Fixing and Restoring R35 LB

Hi Guys and gals,

Here is a R35 LB that I am fixing up for Thumper. I hope this tutorial will help you restore and fix your damaged cars. You just need patience.

The car was damaged during transit.

http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/...pszjuzyors.jpg

Disassemble car:
I used an exacto knife and ran it along the areas where Make UP used resin glue to attached the pieces to the car.

http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/...psmquimjhf.jpg

How to remove the clear plastic windows without damage - A blunt toothpick does the trick. But be careful and do this slowly.
As you can see from the pic below, this took about four hours to do (I was watching past episodes of Game of Thrones while doing this).
Also at this stage, I reattached the nose of the car to the body using Insta-cure gap filling Cyanoacrylate, along with Tamiya modelling glue,
and Plastic Weld Cement (That I ran across the damaged seem).
I know this is overkill for the glue, but the pieces are glued together permanently.

Reattached nose:

How to Strip the Paint:
I did some research, and I found that the best method to strip paint of resin, is 99% Isoproply Alcohol. This does not damage or make the resin soft.
You will need to soak the model in the alcohol for about 24-48 hours. Afterwards, the paint comes off very easily.
Use a old tooth brush to remove the paint. Be careful of PE parts, as they are stuck on the paint and can easily be lost when scrubbing off the paint.

Close up of the damaged area.

http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/...psxtzyvhpc.jpg

There where chips that had to be filled, so I used Tamiya two part
modelling expoxy putty. This stuff is just basically bondo.

http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/...psngfqxzla.jpg

Paint prep:
After sanding off the putty, and masking off all the attached chrome pieces, I primed the body and inspected it for further defects.

Latest update

I've sprayed a base coat of Alclad bright silver on the car. Flash Pink is what original body colour. This paint is very difficult to find. The only other solution is to use acrylic nail colours.
But still no matches, and from what my wife told me if I dilute the nail paint to spray through my airbrush, the end colour will not be the same.
So I've decided to go use Alclad Enamel Candy Red, I think this is a cool colour.

I will post up pic of this very soon.

Thanks,

William

Pacman808 is doing an excellent job, but thumper, how come you didn't send back to the seller to get a new one? Was it from eBay?

I can accept minor damage on things I buy that aren't display items, but yea, it's an expensive item and it's a display item, so I would get the seller to get me a new one for sure IMO

thumper 07-26-2016 09:18 AM

they refunded my money and didn't want it back. it was from ebay. the manufacturer would not make another one for me and there was no replacement because of the low production numbers and the seller did not want to risk breaking another.

thumper 07-27-2016 08:05 AM

for the focus RS fanbois out there... 1/18 scale from ottomobile coming later this year:
