Not really diecast, but a mix of fantasy and reality

Hi guys,

I would like to share... although this isn't really diecast.

This is an on going project, that I have been working on for the past few months. It is not done yet, but I would like to share this work in progress.

I was inspired by another modeler's posting, and the hip hop Stormtrooper.

I bought the Stormtrooper kit from Bandai. I think it looks better than the Black Series Troopers. This kit is in 1/12th scale Tamiya kit. For those who do not build models, Tamiya makes one of the best 1/12 scale model bikes. And they released a Ducati 1199 Panigale a few years back, which is one of the most beautiful bikes in production. (Although, my favorite is the RC45). I think the design of the 1199 suits well for a Stormtrooper. Although the bike is not a Pocher 1/4 scale kit, the Tamiya version is just as detailed, only in 1/12th scale.

Here is my work in progress so far.

It all started with the Bandai kit. Very in expensive. $28.00 bought off Amazon.ca includes free shipping from Japan.

I painted it bright red and masked off the white, and made Adidas Trooper

The final figure is very posable, and various weapons are included. I modified the shoes to make them look like Adidas Superstars. The only item I still need to add is a clock hanging from it's neck Flava Flav style.

This is what I think a Stormtrooper would ride.

This is what I have built so far. I used the Detail Up set from Tamiya. This set has metal forks, and hex nuts for the front disk brakes
(I have not placed them on yet), and a few other metal enhancements.

The fairings will be painted pearl white. Once the bike is built, I will scratch build Death Star Interior for the bike and figure.
I hope it will look nice.

Again, I know this isn't a diecast, but I thought something different and out the ordinary is fun sometimes.

I will keep you guys posted.

Thank you for looking.

William

Holy crap pacman808, that's some serious artisan work. That's awesome stuff. Bringing the GTR back to life and the storm trooper. I wish I had your patience to build/paint models.

Wow white one is the only one I have... Pretty sure you can buy them individually cheaper than his starting ask though.

Lexus LFA

Hi everyone,

If you don't want to pony up the $$$ for the AutoArt LFA, build one yourself. Tamiya makes a very detailed version of it. Except it is in 1/24 scale, and you will need patience to build one.

Here are some pics of Tamiya's LFA. BTW tamiya also makes a clear version too, so you can see all the engine and interior details. The only downside with tamiya's clear car series, you will have to sand and polish the ejection pin marks, and the plastic turns yellow over time.

I think the hobby store on the second floor at Crystal Mall has them, and their prices are very reasonable. If not Burnaby Hobbies might have them.

I like collecting 1/18 just as much, but I also like collecting and building 1/24 too.

Ferrari Koenig Competition Testarossa 1/18 by GT Spirit

Hi guys and Gals,

How many of you guys remember the tuning company Koenig? The first time i had heard of them was when I was in grade 8 (this really dates me). My sister got me a 1/16 scale Koenig Competition Testarossa by Fujimi. Obviously at that age, my modelling skills sucked and I built a bad version of it. So fast forward to the present, when GT Spirit announced a 1/18th scale release, I had to get one. There are some inaccuracies, and they could of made some improvements, I still liked it - because there is no such thing as the perfect model. Here are the pics.

Anyone suggest any good places for diecasts in Tokyo? Is there a specific area or store at all?

Pacman808 08-09-2016 09:56 PM

Thumper may know some places... But I think one of the popular ones is Boost Gear. Also if you like Tomica's, be sure you pick some of them up, especially the vintage line. And I also think Kyosho has a boutique store.

Hi guys and gals...

How are your skills at modding your diecasts?

Hobby design has just released a LB transit kit for AutoArt Lambo Huracan. The kit is not cheap from what I read online. $139.00 USD at Hobby link Japan.

But if you would like too, I think you can mod the transit kit to fit Welly's Huracan.
