The civic is really only a name now, as the cars with that badge have absolutely nothing to do with those that came before.

Meanwhile in Brazil, Honda releases a jacked up suspension Honda Fit.

so does this make it the 9.5 gen.....?

reminded me of how subaru switched from bug eye to the peanut eye to the "aerospace" / pig nose within two model years each.

but seriously honda? after only 1 year?

thank god i had my deposit refunded on a four door Si that I wanted to buy earlier this year.....

i'm not a fan of the recent styling of the civics, but man have civics come a long way.

Sure, one could argue that the older models are more fun to zip around in, but the newer ones (2006+) are very smooth and comfortable. Whenever i drive one I feel like i should get one for a DD.

I realize they look nothing alike, but the 9g Civic has always put me in mind of some of GM's product... the Cobalt, Cavalier, etc. The design just looks lazy, cheap and far too generic. That's not to say it's a bad car; rather, it's as if Honda didn't bother trying at all.

The Corolla looks better, and, sadly, that's saying something...

Edit: I went car shopping with my dad the other day as he's looking for a smallish commuter car and the Civic was one of the cars we checked out. Sure, while they're definitely an upgrade from previous models, it just doesn't quite compare to most of the other cars in the compact class anymore. It's no longer the benchmark that it once was.

Another way to look at the article is that this is probably a good time to get a significant discount on a 2012 Civic...

They went thought a lot of work to upgrade it for the Acura ILX. I wonder if the new civic will look like a rebadged ILX.

I have a 2013 civic as a winter beater, it's a pretty decent car to boot around. However, I do agree with the interior been a complete mess and annoying. I hate the fact other drivers can basically know how fast you're driving or what station or song you're bumping. I guess Honda thinks most of their owners are 60+ with bad eyes.

Mindblown. I've always pegged you as someone who would have a lowly Audi S4 or something for a winter beater.

You clearly haven't been in a real beater to call a 2012 civic a beater. should see my 1989 accord hatch beater from couple years ago that was almost dead from rust. That's what you call a beater

Lol, I shouldn't have put "winter beater", what I meant to say was a everyday car I use for work and stuff. And I do drive my A5 during the winter but I decided to get myself a car that's much more reliable, better on gas for running around and not worry about wear and tear.

And my mistake, I meant to say 2012, not 2013.

Different headlight.....slightly different taillights.....and different front grille (that's very similar to the 2012 Si's). That's about it.
