1. Do stupid pointless undercover work for CBC
2. Get paid.
3. Get your older sibling or friends to get you some hard shit for the next house party.
4. Find a better source of news.

i got checked at ebisu tonight...so yea...
honestly, the CBC should find something better to report...
on the other hand, responsible drinking usually begins after one bad incident involving yourself or someone close to you, whether it be just a DUI, alcohol poisoning, a "i fucking drank too much" or the worst case in a drinking and driving situation.
as for the laws vs translink.... yea... not gonna go into that one

The server at the keg is a good friend of mine. Won't go into detail right now (I'm drunk) but the whole thing is retarded. And the kid's comments on why they think they were served is retardd.

I can't remember how many times I used to go to the pub with my older cousins when I was only 17/18...
Shit by the time I was 18, my dad told me I could just get what I wanted from his beer fridge.

Man, I don't know how many times I was served booze when I was underage. Very rarely did me or any of my buddies get checked.
On the other hand, 16-18 for me was a long ass time ago, so I'm guessing it's gotten a bit tougher lol.

This is such a non issue, go to Europe where alcohol is a part of life to be enjoyed, children drink watered down alcohol (France is huge on kids respecting wine, in England, shandy (lemonade and lager) is a great summertime refreashment) - kids are never given enough to get drunk or even tipsy, but its about respecting alcohol and enjoying it
North America sees booze as such a taboo, creating an aura that really isn't deserved, when things are restricted they are often wanted just for that sake, hence dumb kids binge drinking (yes, kids in Europe binge drink too) - we need to chill the fuck out about booze, educate people to respect it and enjoy it - bring the drinking age down to 18, and please, deregulate it! So expensive to enjoy booze here
For the record, I barely drink here out of a) having been drinking responsibly since a young age, so there's no "need" to drink and b) out of principal - just so expensive here, for no other reason than the government wanting to 'control' it - who are the government to tell me what I should and shouldn't do (within the bounds of the law)
On last thing - why is the government in control of booze in BC, stems from prohibition days when Canada legalized booze (US was still restricted), so government controlled alcohol in Canada... Nothing has changed since, time to get with the times, BC

I for one dont want ANY establishment serving my 16yo daughter booze but if she is in the company of ME I dont mind if she has a social drink either with or without food. I believe something such as this should be at the discretion of a parent.

I was talking to a server @ Wings the other night.
They carded me although I look WAY over 21.
I asked them why and they said if they get caught the server has to pay a $500 fine and restaurant has to pay too.

I remember one time at the liquor store on Cambie and 41st. It was late June and the couple in front of us was in their grad outfits. Guy was in a tux and girl was in a fancy dress. They bought booze and weren't carded. I made a comment to the wife about them not being carded and the cashier obviously heard me cause he asked me for my ID.

I get carded fairly often these days, which seems...odd. Though that having been said, I seem to recall some LDB stores being fined for not checking (the North Road location had a sign up saying 'we didn't ID and had to pay a fine and keep this sign up for X weeks' or somesuch.
I notice now that most times when I get ID'd, the little receipt printer gives them a slip of paper and they write something (I'm assuming my birth year). It's probably one of those things just to remind them to ID instead of just assuming.
Also: they're always apologetic. Me, I'm like "Fuck it. When I was young, I'd get all pissed. Now, it feels good."

I was wondering, if there was a table of minors with one 19 year old, is it the restaurants responsibility to stop them from drinking? For instance would they be on the hook if the 19 year old ordered 3 pitchers of beer when obviously it's not for him?

I HATE getting carded. Call it a irrational annoyance, but I fucking hate having to show my ID for anything.
When I was under 19, I wouldn't dare go home drunk. Isn't that where it should start and end? At home?
These fines for restaurants and servers are fucking ridiculous imho.

I'd say I look well over 19, but I still get carded everytime.
It's annoying, but it's a liability issue for the establishment so I understand.
