The restaurant can deny serveing you if they want to but then again they will most likely turn a blind eye because it was not the miniors that order the drinks. Is one of those grey areas. Is the same as getting your older brother, sister or friend to get get you beer or alcohol. What about at a house party? Is it the party host to make sure only legal age people drink or is it up to each invidual to make that choice? Family dinner gatherings?

I was able to drink with my family at like 15 I think, there are red wines in the house so if I steal a bottle and get drunk whose fault is it?

Also what if I have no ID but have several Credit cards? Does that prof I am over 19 coz you do have to be over 19 to get a credit card..........

Credit cards won't be enough because people can just get added on to their parents credit card.

I believe it's illegal to buy alcohol for minors, so not the store/restaurants liability (although restaurant is tough as if u witness an underage person drinking, they should do something about it)

As for a party, didn't some parents get charged for having their kids downstairs drinking - but the parents didn't even know they has booze!! Don't remember the exact details

All I know is this, our laws and treatment of alcohol are way too strict and ridiculous, yet our drink driving enforement is not sufficient (don't start me on the 0.05% alcohol rule - I think we're the only western nation to have it, which tells me it's not supported by solid science)

How many of you drank before you were 19?

Now how many of you had the balls before you were 19 to order a drink at a restaurant knowing the drinking age is 19 and the possibility of being checked and willing to suffer through the embarassment? Not many of you I don't think.

That is my 2 cents.

I used to be a waiter, loads of kids tried, don't think there's much embarrassment involved

I've been buying booze since about 13 or 14 (in Europe) - was never a problem, all u need is a copy of an older brother's birth certificate

What does that prove? You only know of one, yet I know tons of people who waited to be 19 or over to have their first alcoholic drink and they're alive, well, healthy and doing great.

I think I had my first sip of beer when I was 14. Was drinking on a regular basis when I was 17.
Now, I can't stand it. I love being the DD and drinking fountain pop.

Why? Most parents are fucking useless these days. Plus all that's gonna happen is kids will bring some creepy old SOB with them to get drinks.

I think the whole issue about the age thing isn't if kids are better off with slacked adult-privilege restrictions or not. It's that in general, if something were to happen to kids/teenagers, at the end of the day it is us Adults that are ultimately responsible.

The social difference is that when you become 19 or over, there's a social expectation that YOU are an adult now; and at this point on, whatever decision (whether bad or good) is now ALL on you; and not us anymore.

So with that, I'm kinda against the "cool-dad/grown-ups" trend that seems to be the chic parenting thing to do now.

Hey everyone,
Was out of town for 2 weeks, did some Chef scouting in Japan.

Well this was certainly a doozy, I'll shed some light on what happened. It's not a justification of any means, we did screw up, the server was not careful and we got caught. Shit happens . We are now going to be much more careful in checking everyone even if you are 35 years old

It was a super busy Friday night, 4 people came in and I seated them in a booth. A waitress walked by with 2 pitchers of beer to another table. That table said they didn't order 2 pitchers, they only wanted one. The undercover table overheard that conversation and asked the waitress "oh if that's an extra pitcher that they don't want, we'll order it so you don't have to bring it back to the bar" ... so the waitress put it down. So sneaky lol... but obviously still our fault.
We normally check quite often if you look young but we had this one slip-up and now we are on the news with the big guns like The Keg ...

We did not get fined as this was not an "official" government issued investigation but you can be sure that we are now on their radar so we must be extra, extra careful incase they send in some older looking minors. I already warned all the servers that not only will the restaurant get fined a LOT of money, but the server will get fined too. So you will get checked if you come, bring your IDs! (unless you look like murdoc )

When I was 17 I started going to clubs with my friends sometimes we got let in sometimes we didnt. I was amazed when I'd hand my ID to the door man and he'd just let us in and not even do the math.
On the nights we didnt get in we'd smoke a joint pop some shrooms and trip around the sea wall lol

I'll get ID'd from time to time, I'm 31.

At this point I take it as a compliment, but I like to give them a little bit of grief by showing them my wedding ring and asking how many 18 year olds they know who are married.

I don't believe in the theory of "anything goes" as in purposely serving minors in order to make a few extra bucks. The cost of getting busted is something like $7500 + closure which would be even more revenue out the window. How many minors do we have to serve in order to make that back? Definitely not enough.
