Yes but nobody makes good decisions when they're stumbling around drunk at 3am.

Fresh Slice is like the girls you've only seen through beer goggles. You think "Maybe this will be awesome?" because you're plastered so it seems like a good idea and then every single time it's :heckno:.

The one on North Road?

If that's a yes- if you've been to Sushi Garden/Town, you've been to Sushi California.

I hate that place. The cut of salmon sashimi is so close to the skin it is chewy. Not to mention service is terrible. We had to ask several times for our hot pot meats. They also won't give you the quantity you asked for. For example, we wrote down 20 orders of beef and they only gave us like 5. We had a table of 6 hungry dudes that would devour 20 orders of beef in an instant. After 2 hrs (I think?) they refuse to give you any more food. Even though it is THEIR fault for forgetting our orders. They won't even give you dessert after time is up. "AYCE" my ass.

The hiraku roll is delicious. Just make sure you ask for no asparagus.

Went there for lunch today. A little pricey but I thought it was good. Got the Hiraku roll based off this recommendation, forgot to ask for no asparagus. I found it just fine with it, but then I like asparagus.

Also got the philly roll and assorted sashimi. Sashimi pieces were large and not frozen (yay!).

They have dessert at toyotami wat. I felt like they never cut my order before when I went. That's why I love it. Their sashimi is cut really close to the skin but I'm not too picky about it.

Not worth it imo. Nice restraunt and all, very spacious etc. Japanese sushi chefs and waitresses. However, food is overpriced imo. I don't mind paying top dollar for good stuff, but this place seems like that middle point between a reg Japanese restraunt and an izakaya.

Gerbs 09-09-2014 06:01 PM

wow, never knew. I thought it was the pineapple crap. Do you have to ask?

Ronin 09-09-2014 09:30 PM

fuhkyu 09-10-2014 11:42 AM

Me and the GF go there quite a bit as it's the shortest walk from her place

Nothing close to top quality but the price certainly is right.

Uh...ebi abo, chicken wings, black cod, salmon belly, 5x sashimi platter and the cold chicken udon, IIRC.

TOS'd 09-10-2014 03:08 PM

Looking forward to your review of the place.

OT, sorry.

The only Fresh Slice I have experience with is the one in Fraser Heights, in the Esso. My in-laws have ordered from there many times, and it's been consistently decent. It's not spectacular, but if you want pizza, it definitely quells that craving successfully.

Back on topic:

Langley has a lot of frickin' sushi, and I've been trying to visit new ones. It's hard to break free from the usual place since they've been so good, and they give us free stuff a lot. I'm going to have to start logging my visits.

Isn't it all the same? It tastes like cheese spread on cardboard.

If you're in FH order from Fraser Glen man not fresh slice lol

Gourmet pizza up at giant foods there used to have stupid good pizza but the owner got caught selling dope or somthig and now it's that "DDDN pizza" which is even worse than fresh slice. Gourmet used to taste a lot like Best Neighbors in Van

I went to Akari on 72 & 120 ... not terrible but definitely wasn't good - lack of decent sushi in the area means a lot of subway for lunch at work :fuckthatshit:

411ken 09-11-2014 10:11 PM

haven't tried myself but I've been told that Kami Sushi in delta (strawberry hill area) is pretty good.. Will probably try it soon

Last time we went to Akari, the service was just bad.. didn't bother going again after

are there any AYCE sushi in surrey/Langley/cloverdale at all? if so, are they any good?

Presto 09-12-2014 10:03 PM

Took another try at SushiCo tonight with the wife. They are the new favorite, along with Umami Sushi. Their pieces are big and fresh. Dip it in some soy, and down the hatch. Delicious. Their unagi and saba are excellent. The tai is really tender, too.
