Decent Sushi Need a few other names for decent sushi. Tojo - been here but 120 a head is a tad expensive and not something I want to do too often Miku - been here also, spent about 120 a head min.; great new vibe, pretty cool, again, not some place i would go too often. Ebisu - i enjoy this place, great unique menu, decent food and it's not epic pricy. I am looking for something between Miku and Ebisu, somewhere that's decent, good reviews and in Vancouver. I know Richmond has Hachi, which I have been, and I've also been to Seto, I vouch for those two places, I'm looking for a few more options to check out good places that's not as pricy as Miku. Anyone? Thanks! |
ajisai, ichiro, shiro, shima-ya, kiriri |
Kishimoto Shima-Ya (Husband and wife run, kind of like Hachi but IMO way better) Toshi Kimura Sushi (I heard they changed owners, haven't tried it ever since they changed) Ajisai Sushi Bar |
Kura Sushi near Metrotown. They have another location in Japan |
Minami yaletown Nagano Port Moody |
Sushi by Yuji on Kingsway. |

They were sold to some younger dude, they changed the name, the menu, everything. Only the crazy doors stayed. I went in, and I didn't know, and I was like "oh, you guys aren't Kura anymore?" and the waitress gave me attitude and was like "no, it sais we're xxxx, can't you see!?" Food is mediocre (much worse than before), service is terrible, and there is absolutely no reason to go here over the other ones. |
Thank you all, I read the "last restaurant I've been too", just that when there are so many pages, you tend to forget. Great suggestions by all, all the reviews are all solid 4 - 5 stars so that's pretty cool. Minami yaletown is a well known one, i used to work right above their office, it's decent but nothing to rave about. Keep them coming. |

haven't been in that area for a while. That's quite disappointing to hear. |
Kimuara is gone now too. Waiting for him to open up shop again. |
Kimura left BC. Hanako in surrey. |
How do you know he left BC? Last I heard, he was looking to re-open closer to Kits? |
Sushi Kamizato in Poco |
Makes sense for kimura to move. Ppl in that area tend to look for cheap eats, including myself. Posted via RS Mobile |
went to shima-ya. on par with sushi hachi, wish the chef was personable http://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...82225496_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...39271048_n.jpg i now love anago |
yeah the chef at shima-ya is a bit more reserved and serious but friendly. he did say he was from toyama prefecture. anyways, the mebachi and kohada he served were definitely above average but the ika served here was excellent. its been the first ika i've had in vancouver that wasn't gummy at all and cut perfectly. the neta in general was all cut very nicely. |
any good sushi places in North surrey that serves good sashimi salad also? Preferably a place where you can talk and more comfy suits along with a good atmosphere thanks in advance guys ! |
Sushi Shelter 101, in Coquitlum. Yummy |

Seriously a hidden gem. Sushi chef apprenticed under Tojo I believe and went to Japan for training. Wife of the sushi chef is an excellent cook herself..she handles the hot non sushi foods. Just look at their reviews on Urbanspoon: Tokyo Thyme - Kerrisdale - Vancouver | Urbanspoon The Sashimi salad, toro cones, and chicken teriyaki (diff from other places) = amazing |
Ichiro hands down |
+1 for Tokyo Thyme. I eat there every time I shop in Kerrisdale. No question. But when I'm at work downtown and craving for a quick cheap fix, I go to Momo. :lawl: |
