That time of the year again! :D

Obsideon 03-05-2015 11:05 PM

OOoh... what's the going price?... the last few seasons were stupidly expensive...

Traum 03-06-2015 12:03 AM

I have been told by the newspaper, restaurants, retailers, etc. that the high prices in the past few seasons were due to the king crabs being a high end hot commodity in Mainland China. With the anti-corruption crackdowns that have been going on, lavish feasts seems to have have dwindled in numbers.

I wonder if that would cause a reduced demand in China, and some corresponding lower prices here?

Obsideon 03-06-2015 10:05 PM

Let's hope so ... I remember like 6-7 years ago you could find some (semi-shady) places selling for $8.88... then last year the cheapest one I could find was like $36 :yuno:

Galactic_Phantom 03-10-2015 01:49 PM

Bump. I have guests from out of town who wants to eat some. Has anybody went out for any this year? Price and taste?

HonestTea 03-12-2015 02:09 AM

FYI for anybody that is interested:

T & T is selling King crab for $26.## per lb (on a flyer), and their crabs are 7lbs or lower.

godwin 03-22-2015 07:56 PM

I think the season is about to start.

Kirin has it for 38.88 today, the one I went to have a 14lb one.. congee noodle house has it for 35/lb.

Mr.HappySilp 03-23-2015 02:44 PM

^^ I don't know I just don't feel like king crab anymore. Must have had too much for the past few years.
