1 Attachment(s) The Antminer S1 arrived today. Value for duty was stated as $132.90. Got dinged for $26.45. Not too bad. When I get home from work, I'll fire it up. |
so what's the deal with these mining machines? you just plug it in and let it do it's thing? then 5 years later you have 2 bitcoins? |
1 Attachment(s) My Antminer is digging for BTC. It took 15 min to setup. Most of it was wrestling with all the cables from the PSU. The PSU just needed a pair of pins jumpered, and powers each blade with a 6-pin power connector. It came with nothing but the ASIC in a well-cushioned box. I'm using a 750 watt PSU I found in the back of my cabinet. Once I had the PSU connected and the ethernet cable, I flicked the switch. The IP address was printed on the device, so I just opened my browser to the address, and added my worker information. Voila. Mining: |
So how long do you think it'll take before you get a bitcoin Posted via RS Mobile |
Probably around a month and a half, unless difficulty goes out of control. BTC calculator at current difficulty says I should get around .0273 btc/day. |
It will probably take about 3 months to mine 1 BTC with that I highly recommend you overclock it asap... With mining "time is money" more than anything else. The difficulty increases at an exponential rate; every millisecond not spent mining, and every potential megahash/s not used is a waste. Also you will find that with pools, the actual payout is not identical to what the calculators give. Calculators give a 'perfect case scenario' which doesn't always happen. |
OC'd from 350 to 400Mhz. 210Gh/s avg, now. EDIT: Lots of hardware errors with 400Mhz. Trying 375Mhz, and it looks good. 195Gh/s reported by Antminer. EDIT2: Added a fan on the other side to pull air through. Some chips at the end of the airflow overheated. |
Yeah definitely keep an eye on HW errors. You might want to add another fan and try 400 again |

Some movement is being done in Gox's old cold wallet from 2011.. It is possible that they are preparing to return BTC to people that are owed. If that's the case, the price should jump up significantly, I assume. |
Just found 3 LTC in a pool I used for a short time :awwyeah: |
