Ethereum at under $100 is dirt cheap, but I feel like the prices of crypto are going to follow the stock market.

Going to wait a bit because it's not like I particularly need to buy more.

Wrong and wrong again.
If it wasn't for IMF printing fake money to pump into a fake market and the fact that they restrict the stock market from being a TRUE market with the plunge protection team. Then the stock market would drop just as much if not more guaranteed.
5600$ now and climbing.
If it drops again i'm going to throw 20-50% of the value of a SFM in east van into it.

Blue chip stocks are down 15-20-30% over the last week and they're based on multi-million dollar corporations. Today, Bitcoin is an absolutely useless asset and is being dumped. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go to essentially 0. It was $9100 USD a coin five days ago and today alone is down 42% to $3900 and still falling.

Sorry to say Skinny, but you're taking the position of Bear Stearns on this one. I think this crash proves the value of cryptocurrency: 0. No one will be talking about Bitcoin in 10-20 years. I hope you're not losing your socks.

EDIT - As I posted that, it has shot back up to $5100. Swings like that are just stupid for investors. Likely a dead cat bounce as circuit breakers are going in Asian markets. Tomorrow will be another bloodbath in the markets.

I just don't want to argue about bitcoin with investor type people. I'm not an investor, but I believe in it. It's volatile now which hurts, but that's just how it is for now. Not much more to say really

Bitcoin's been around for what... 10 years now? It should've taken off by now if it was going anywhere. Instead, it trades like a commodity or a stock, the only difference is stocks are backed by hard assets that have value. Crypto is backed by nothing but faith.

Up or down, at least a good stock will spit out a monthly or quarterly dividend that you can actually spend on stuff.

Then buy stocks

It's been around as a usable currency for about 3 years. Even if it's been around for 10 years, compare that to the GBP... 320 years...

I'm pretty sure the Euro was immediately widely accepted right after creation. 10 years is plenty of time for a currency to go into circulation. The general public isn't going to accept currency that you can print at home.

It's a whole new paradigm though. I wouldn't expect it to be immune to speculators so quickly

You're right about the general public

Bitcoin has fully recovered from that 60% crash, when everyone declared it dead for the 1 millionth time

Time to buy stuff again, with a 60% discount

Dow Jones has recovered 5% of its 40% crash since then

If anyone still cares, since bitcoin is dead, Paypal has announced that they will start supporting it and other currencies.

Now might be the last chance to ever buy bitcoin for under $20K

Wish I bought in at the crash earlier this year.

Bought some more when it hit $15k. I am surprised how it is skyrocketing the past few weeks.

For those that use Shakepay. Do you keep it on Shakepay, use a digital wallet, or physical cold wallet?

Buy on Shakepay and then deposit to a physical wallet like a Ledger.

I was lucky enough to be one of the last people to get my money off of Quadriga a few years back.

Had to hound them every couple of days for like a month, but I got it all.

Much easier now with things like ShakePay. Takes only a few minutes to send and receive now.

Any updates to Quadriga. I haven't been following since I have no stake in the matter but this brought out the curiosity in me.

It will probably settle with all of the compensation going to the lawyers' fees lol.

Second what Razor said with shakepay. So Convenient and iirc these are regulated.

Hopefully the bear market has scare most if not all of the sketchy brokers out of business.

Did some transaction last night and it took a bit of time. I take that as good sign of major FOMO coming lol

No, I don't think anything has happened.

It was a giant ponzi scheme at the end. People's incoming deposits were used to payout withdrawals.

They have lawyers and accountants looking into it.

I should've worded myself better.

I meant that no payouts have happened for those that had their money stuck on QuadrigaCX. I doubt users will see a penny until 2022 at the earliest.

MtGox happened in 2014 and people only recently started getting their money back.

Almost at ATH with no media attention and institutions like PayPal scrambling to buy any newly minted coins.

This is exciting indeed
