Well, MtGox is actually the perfect example for why no one recommends holding your cryptocurrencies in an exchange. Exchanges are meant for withdrawals/deposits and trading. Otherwise, you should be keeping all your cryptos on an offline wallet. You have to remember that exchanges are not the same as holding stocks in a trading account. If shit hits the fan, no one is protecting you.
I've been using QuadrigaCX for a year now doing multiple wire transfers and Interac Online deposits without issue. I've also withdrew from it to my bank account once and it was fine.

Whether the issues brought up are valid or not, nobody is there addressing them.
Of course you shouldn't hold money in an exchange, but you have to put it there first, and that in itself is risky. Ask anyone who had funds in BTC-E when it disappeared out of nowhere. Or of course MTGOX and any of the other scammy fly-by-night exchanges or ones that got hacked and ripped off.
Sure a lot of these people were stupidly just leaving cash in there, but a lot were trading, and they lost everything.

Don't leave your shit on ANY exchanges, and this includes Coinbase. Put your coin on a paper/hardware wallet or get your fiat to a bank. Never ever leave a limit open order. You're welcome.

So, I just found 10BTC keys that I had gotten a long ass time ago when selling a WoW account as part of the deal. So long that I don't ever remember I had them and how the whole wallet.dat works
Only found it today when checking the content of an old HDD prior selling it.
My question is, what is the cheapest/safest way to sell it now?
Edit: Also, what's a proper procedure to check the coins' validity? Sorry for such a nub questions, but my exp. with BTCs are limited to online trades where it's not much more different than an online banking. First time I've had to deal with actual privkeys.

You need wallet address (public keys) to check balance. The private keys are only to authorize transaction.
Follow this: https://99bitcoins.com/know-more-sen...-paper-wallet/
Do not post your private key here or anywhere.

Yup over the years I have probably spent about 3 bitcoin on various things...
People like me are what make it viable and useful beyond speculation, but it kind of sucks to think that I spent like $30,000 on things that I intended to pay a few $1000 for
So I try not to |

I remember the whole deal was for a flickr premium account coupon (worth about $40-50USD back then) and the BTC was included as the cherry on the cake as the guy had farmed a bunch of them, I think we concluded it should be worth at least another $30 or so some time later.
I took the code, exported, put it into the HDD during my semi-annual backup but never thought about it again. Even after I did some BTC trades when it hit 1k.
Good thing I name the folder "BTC_Data". Else it would have been formatted...

So after do some research on mining bitcoin for the last few days, I'm now seriously considering building a budget mining rig. my question is: is it worth it to mining at this time in late 2017? Or should I stick to just buying bitcoin?

Just buy it
Remember when we had a group here considering buying some miners? Even then, it would have been profitable, even with the price at like $500. At 20X that, we'd be so rich if we'd gone through with it |

With an RX 580 or a GTX 1070 you will make about $55 per month per card depending on the price of Etherium. https://www.nicehash.com/ mining pool uses your hardware to mine whats most popular and pays you in Bitcoin.
Guy selling a mining rig with 300 GPU's and 50 motherboards. Works out to $2333 a card. LOL. https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/...406388366.html

Just cashed in my bitcoin cash, totally forgot about it. Well it would always be there anyway, but now might be a good time to trade it for BTC since it's up today (or keep holding if you think the people behind BCH should "win" after failed attempts to take over)

Anyone thinking of mining should get some RX Vega 56 GPU's if you can find them and mine Monero. After power cost you should be making $178 a month per card. Taking you Less than 5 months to pay off the hardware.
