Power steering pump/drive belt was making sounds when car was cold...so did the O-ring TSB. ~$4 for part, and 10 minutes of work - all sounds gone! Also did the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switch replacement...if any of you guys with the Auto V6's haven't done it yet, I highly recommend it. I noticed an instant different. YMMV. |
I've got some pretty serious rattles going on when it's cold out - any suggestions? Also, Honda wants to charge 28 + tax for an OEM Transmission Filter - Can anyone point me towards a guide for a V6 external filter - I've only found one for I4 models |
If it's somewhere you can pinpoint, you can take it apart and add foam, replace broken clips, etc. If it's everywhere, just turn up the radio lol. Are you talking about the 3 circular filters? Buy them from the states. As for external filters, I'm not sure what you mean and I don't even know if they make them. Do you mean a transmission cooler? |

As for external filters, something like this but for a V6 Model Cut Open Magnefine Transmission Filter (PICS) - Honda Accord Forum : V6 Performance Accord Forums |

I haven't found a problem with my higher gears, but first going into second can be rough on a cold morning :okay: |
7th gen - 2nd best gen accord (9th gen is almost perfection)...but hey Jesus drove a 7th gen and never told anyone! http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mb...saho1_1280.jpg |
that gas mileage.. :( |
seafoamed .... didn't get get much white smoke at all :okay: did seafoam + cleaned throttle body + fresh oil -- running a lot smoother now :fullofwin: then i broke the dipstick for the oil :okay: |

Mine broke too, and my mechanic made one for me...but I bought another one anyway lol. It's the right size, although it's flat and not round, so it's a bit sticky going in. PM me if you'd like it - free. |
since you seafoamed beware of seals and check oil for the next little while... |

I always do an oil change, use a conventional oil + seafoam, run for a week then drain -- never had any issues doing it this way. Probably seems a bit wasteful but I'm OCD I guess. I've used seafoam on engines notoriously "worse" than the accord v6 for seal issues/leaking oil and its been fine. But fawk .. When I pulled out the tranny dipstick there was a big metal flake stuck to it .. kinda ominous  |
couple people on v6 performance said that after seafoam the engine consumed more engine oil and when they tore apart the engine they found that the seals were worn. (it could be a mixture of high km and seafoam) |
^:heckno: let's hope it doesn't happen haha inv4azn did you remove the starter to replace the shift solenoids or was there a way around that? |
If you mean the pressure switches, they're both accessible through the driver's wheelwell. You have to remove the wheel though. I found out after removing the battery lol |
Tempted to do this: Spent all day yesterday doing transmission flush, spark plugs, cleaning throttle body, re-doing the ground cables I still get a weird headlight dimming when I let off the gas, albeit not as pronounced as before. Tempted to just do HID retrofit + relays so the stock headlights can go kill themselves |
Can you aware me on throttle body cleaning? |

or .. you can do what i did -- buy the CRC Throttle Body cleaner from canadian tire, turn ignition to ON (engine off), get someone to press gas pedal, spray and wipe lol. Just gotta pull the airbox and disconnect a vacuum hose be careful though, apparently people have been seriously injured sticking their fingers into the butterfly valve of the throttle body if it closes unexpectedly fun dhillon09 tip #2: vaseline on the battery contacts prevents white stuff from building up :ahwow: Quote:

I have the mini's in mine too (5.0 i think) and they are worth it. Spent 1/4 what the other guys are with their tsx/fx projectors etc and light output is pretty decent. The newest ones may have some more improvements though. For your lights dimming, did you check the engine block ground? Transmission ground? |
Are you headlights dimming when the compressor kicks in? remember your compressor runs when you have any of the defrost settings selected as well. If they dim when the compressor cycles its pretty normal, honda should have programmed it to bump the rpm a little higher to compensate. My acura does the same thing and its pretty annoying. |
osaka on mitchell island has a brand new i4 7th gen accord for parts on their lot -- just grabbed a few goodies Guy was trying to sell me the OEM aluminum alloy wheels + with brand new mounted snowies for $400 ... I may go back on boxing day and buy :fullofwin: |
I was replacing the OEM low beams on my four door accord with Philips XtremePower 9006 Bulbs. While the owner's manual mentions that you need to twist counter clockwise to remove the bulb, it did not mention, however, that you need to twist with significant force to remove the bulb. Pro-tip: You can actually remove the passenger's side low beam from above. You can also remove the battery to access the driver's side bulb real easy - You will need the radio code when you reconnect it though. Also, if you went with the fender liner removal method on the driver's side and broke some clips, Honda sells them for about a dollar a pop. |
Upgrade owned 7th gen accord v6 coupe... loved it so much traded it in for a brand new accord v6 coupe.. however not to big a fan of the turning radius..anyone else noticed that |
anybody get craking noise when taking off or stopping... it doesn't happen when i go on bumps or turn , so makes me think its not suspension. and maybe can't be frame?? but only happens going from 0 kmh .. im thinking lower joint bushing needs lubricating? |
^like a pronounced "clunk" ? I get that when my car's cold. Sidenote, I have another honda and it's under warranty. The dealer told my mother that she has to do all the maintenance, including oil changes, at the dealership or the warranty is void. Obviously that's bullshit -- they're trying to play my mom because they figure she knows nothing about cars. For you guys that are under warranty do you just keep receipts for Filters purchased/oil purchased and the date/mileage you did the oil change? I think it's stupid to pay $80 for a synthetic oil change when I can DIY for $30 -- jiffy lube is warranty approved but fuck jiffy lube |
