Accord 7th Gen Thread

Since there's quite a few 7th gen owners on here, figured we should have an unofficial 7th gen thread.

I'll kick it off by saying I just got a call from my dealer informing me the parts for the V6 Recall last year finally came in and booked my appointment for the repair.

it's for the power steering hose. fellow V6 owners might want to start checking with their dealerships to see if they got their parts in yet.

inv4zn 03-07-2013 01:39 PM

Just got a voicemail for it too.

Which Honda dealerships do you guys typically go to?

I've been to Kingsway Honda and Middlegate...both were similar. Not good nor bad.

GLOW 03-07-2013 03:08 PM

kingsway. picked up my car from middlegate though. both seem similar to me too, but i do my maintenance on my sedan at kingsway.

BrRsn 03-07-2013 04:56 PM

Is it for the groaning noise when you turn?

IIRC it was just a $4 washer I replaced to fix it. It's a recall now?

Purely 03-07-2013 06:04 PM

05 Accord V6 EX AT.

I'm the second owner for the car, will I have any problems trying to get the recall done by the dealership? I have this groaning noise in the morning (when it's cold especially) when I turn. It goes away after driving for a bit though.

GLOW 03-07-2013 06:18 PM

Not sure if noise is the symptom as mine was not leaking. No problems gYu, I got mine second hand as well but i was in the system because I did oil changes there before so I got the call

77civic1200 03-07-2013 09:11 PM

If this is the same recall that I have been doing on the 04-08 TL's at work, Its going to cover the noise problem as well, but thats not the main reason for the recall. The power steering line from the pump to the rack has a rubber section that is a little to close to the rear cat convertor, it can heat up - leak - possible fire. But while they are in there doing the hose, the also take out the inlet line for the pump and replace the O-ring. That o-ring shrinks and allows air to be sucked into the pump - causing the pump to groan/squeal in the mornings

inv4zn 03-07-2013 09:29 PM

Yeah it's the same recall as the TL haha

!Aznboi128 03-07-2013 10:04 PM

kinda want my accord to catch fire..... PAY OUT BABY! lol no.... my rare 6-6 would be destroyed

GLOW 03-08-2013 08:40 AM

i only want that to happen to the 4 banger coupe...too bad recall only affects v6's :P

inv4zn 03-08-2013 06:50 PM

Rant:

I realllly hate the Grade Logic Control or whatever they put in the auto tranny.
Coasting down a hill at 2.7k RPM...or in 5th doing 300km/h (exaggeration) :(

And automatic downshifts under hard braking...this just takes time getting used to I guess.

Car also has quite a bit of foll when reversing. Now I just use both feet lol

Coming from a 6th gen auto I'm paranoid with tranny problems...and I'm sure these are normal, but they just get a lot of getting used to =/

Purely 03-08-2013 08:17 PM

I'm planning on doing a drain and refill for my transmission, and was wondering where do you guys buy Honda DW-1 ATF?

smoothie. 03-08-2013 11:38 PM

its a GM tranny, isnt it? Find GM synthetic or something.

honda atf didnt save my auto tranny from dying

can't remember who it was but in the other 7th gen thread someone stated that it's part of the programming or something and is normal behaviour. makes me feel like i'm driving standard

got my recall appointment scheduled for this afternoon! they said 1.5-2hrs...guess i'll check out the showroom and see what i won't be buying :okay:

inv4zn 03-09-2013 12:10 PM

Go test drive the 9th gen lol

Feel the terribleness of the CVT :troll:

GLOW 03-09-2013 04:01 PM

new one too bulky not feelin' it. someone at work has the touring edition and it looked too big. the coupe looks nice though. they replaced my PS fluid too it seems...they wanted me to replace it during my last oil change but i didn't do it...good thing i didn't :lol

only cvt car i test drove was a 08 lancer DE model...it was as bad as people said :lawl:

jdzle69 03-09-2013 10:33 PM

Hey guys i have a 05 coupe v6 and my DRL are not working for some reason. when you release your handbrake it should automaticly go on but mine doesnt the DRL light stays on. i've checked the bulb and the fuse and its neither so iuno wat could be the problem...

Any suggestions guys?

77civic1200 03-10-2013 12:03 AM

Pull the DRL control unit and check the solder joints, probably cracked and needs to be re-soldered

inv4zn 03-10-2013 12:20 AM

I remember reading something about a DRL Module fail being some problems for our cars...maybe look into that?

I spent 2 hours trying to take out the goddamn stock airbox/resonator to install a CAI. What a bitch to do.

Purely 03-10-2013 12:22 AM

Which model accord and CAI?

inv4zn 03-10-2013 12:29 AM

07 V6, K&N.

It was the only one with both cold air and short ram applications haha

inv4zn 03-10-2013 09:10 PM

Does anybody want a Fram air filter for a V6?

Used for maybe 2 months or so in the winter. Free.

Lomac 03-25-2013 09:17 AM

Thank goodness for having a flat-four. :p

How many of you have the sliding seat issue? I found a write-up on V6P talking about replacing the rubber bushing but haven't had a chance to test it out yet and was hoping someone locally might have some input on it.

Purely 04-02-2013 07:09 PM

Got the recall done today at Kingsway

inv4zn 04-02-2013 08:58 PM

Can someone take a picture of the "repair"?

Mine looks...pretty shady lol.
