Official Asian Drama/Movie Thread!
 

Hey RS'ers,

I noticed quite a few Asian (Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, etc) drama/movie reviews in the other movie thread, and I want to use this thread to compile together drama/movie reviews and suggestions.

Off the top of my head, I recently watched:

Triad 9/10
Cold War 9.25/10
The Bullet Vanishes 8/10
Natural Born Lovers 7.5/10
My Sassy Hubby 7/10

Currently watching A Great Way to Care 2.

Merry-Go-Round 10/10
After This Our Exile 9/10

I watch NHK quite a bit. My favourites are Partners and the Jidaigeki's. Taiga Dramas have been pretty boring the last couple of years. Tenchijin was good and so was Ryomaden.

As for Asadora, I couldn't get into Dr. Ume Chan, Jun and Ai, or this year's Ama Chan. Gegege no Nyobo is my all time favourite. Teppan and Carnation were OK.

Anyway, I can go on, but doubt anyone follows this stuff.

Hotel Deluxe - 百星酒店 - 8.5/10 - pretty funny at times...

I'm a big fan of Korean films! Among my favorites:

-Oldboy
-Joint-Security Area (JSA)
-The Host
-My Sassy Girl
-I Saw the Devil
-Mr. Socrates (such a hidden gem!!)

Young and Dangerous Reloaded 1/10.

One of the worst HK movies I've seen in years. The movie is absolutely HORRIBLE, and it is a shame that they ruin the name/title of "Young and Dangerous" with such a bad movie. The plot, character dialogue/development, soundtrack, everything is just disappointing. If you're into triad movies, check out "The Triad" instead.

does this include Bollywood/Indian movies as well?

Being from HK, dramas and movies are basically bread and butter lol

Korea
IRIS (both drama and movie) 8/10
The man from nowhere 7.5/10

Not to exclude you guys but I would say no. It's too unrelated to Chinese/Korean/Japanese. It would be more worth while to have a seperate thread if you're interested.

Just started today on NHK (TVJapan), "My Wife is Ninja." I sometimes say that about my wife, LOLOLOL. She is stealth and the insults she throws my way sting like shuriken.

As for the drama, it looks like it might become a hit. Only episode one, so who knows.

Surprised no one mentioned speedy scandal yet. One of my favorite Korean movies.

Apparently the one posted is not the Cat3 version. Even then, I doubt the Cat3 version is really that much better.

About to rewatch Triumph in the Skies with my gf since she's never watcfhed it in anticipation for the 2nd one.

Then there was, Kung-Fu hustle.

The Flowers of War, a UK movie, but it's based in China.

Masquerade - 8.5/10

One of my favourite actors, Lee Byung-hun, stars in this and he does not disappoint. Really good mix of humour and drama in this and the production is top notch.

somewhat related, Fairchild/Talentvision are finally in HD currently available to Bell customers soon to be Telus customers as well, Shaw and Rogers though arent interested for now

Good movie.. cast could have been better.. I like the chinese historic movies.. I usually try to watch them all...
