I know absolutely nothing about whiskey/bourbon but some of you might appreciate this:

That liquid will never see the light of day. Nothing but collectors will own that bottle. I do wonder how something that expensive would taste like

The juice won't be, but that thing will fetch a tidy profit to whoever flips it.

Now, this blend has grain whiskeys, so this is not on the Johnnie Walker Green Label malt-blend level.
However, this one is exceptional in taste.

I am not going into details on the nose or taste, as everyone perceives it differently.
-Nose: rich honey, sticky syrup, green apples, red apples
-taste: nutmeg, honey, concentrated apple juice

I drank it is small small sips, yet the flavours and the development is endless. The flavours literally comes in waves. 30 seconds after swallowing, a development of sour apple juice with sweet nectar appears on the tongue.

Do note, I tried it neat and also with a few wee drops of water.
It tastes fabulous when consumed neat IMO.
If you don't mind, where did you get the bottle from?

It's readily available at the BC Liquorstore!
This particular bottling is a limited release run, and it seems quite plentiful at the moment. But once they sell out, they will be gone for good.

Quick note, after polishing more than half a bottle of it, drinking this one "neat" is the way to go. Experimented with a few drops of water, and it took away the overall excitement of the flavours.

You have to be careful on the search as it is the Celebratory Blend, not the Celebration Blend as posted by Gallardo (I'm sure it was an honest mistake.)

My goodness, thanks for clarifying the item.

I was oblivious to the fact that I had pasted the wrong name for it.

It is indeed the "JOHN WALKER AND SONS - CELEBRATORY BLEND"

Also- if you simply search "johnnie walker" on the BC Liquor store, the john walker doesn't even show up. Instead you actually need to search "john walker" for it to appear.

Had the same problem with LCBO too.

Worse: Does not ship to store.

For some reason when I search both John Walker and Johnnie Walker it doesn't appear.
I had to type in "Celebratory Blend" to finally get the result... lol what a ghetto system for a government site.

While on that topic, I just realized they removed the BCL app from the store? I reset my phone and I couldn't re-download it but my friend says the app still works for him.
I told him don't delete it, you won't get it back. It was pretty useful for price checks and such. I wonder why they removed it?

The app called BCLiquor right?
I still have it on my iPhone, but honestly, you're not missing out much.

They have since then disconnected the app from a lot of the API (AD/Sync/database refresh). So the original BCLiquor app is very unreliable and clunky now.

They replaced it with "my Cellar".
This is an in-browser tool only I think. On the top of the BC liquor store webpage, you should see a yellow star in a yellow circle.

If you create an account via "my Cellar" it pretty much does everything that the original BCLiquor app does. Creating wishlists or watch-lists for example.

The downside of this in-browser thing is that you have to log-in every single time, and it's simply not an easy access like the app was.

Pretty big news out of the Japan.

With new whisky regulations in Japan, Nikka quick on the ball to update their products on their website. FTB, Coffey Malt, The Nikka, Super aren't classified as Japanese whisky anymore.

It's convenient to scan the barcode of bottles for prices. At least that's what I used it the most frequently for.

I also picked up a bottle, cracked it open right away haha. Original reports are accurate, the finish is very long and it's slightly sweet and smooth. I have only had it neat, will try with a cube tonight.

Came home from work today to a bottle of Glenlivet 18 batch reserve dropped off by a friend for my birthday. Quite the surprise. Probably the nicest bottle I've ever been able to call most of 26oz my own.

So I cracked open the JW Celebratory. Wow.

Nose: Plummy/raisiny, honey, spicy
Palate: Spice, cinnamon(?), honey, vanilla, leathery/tobacco, very jammy and thick feel on the tongue. Very smooth for a 51% no water needed. Lovely lingering finish, coats your tongue/mouth a bit. Lasts a long time.

Great drink. I think someone on Reddit mentioned that it reminds him of JW Blue, and both my brother and I agree that it does kind of. Really good bottle, I will probably pick up another to keep for a bit since it's a limited release.

^damn... I’d have to drive to Langley to grab a bottle but the Blue comparison has me intrigued. Maybe I’ll have to find a reason to go to Langley this weekend

Only thing is, I usually enjoy my scotch with friends (it’s a hard no for the wife) and still have several unopened bottles I got for my 40th back in August because COVID. The liquor cabinet is already overflowing.. #firstworldproblems

@RoastPuff
Just for kicks, i pulled a list of the dataset that the government makes public, and I filtered the whiskey by their alcohol contents.

Other whiskies that have comparable offerings with alcohol contents at 51% or so; are significantly more expensive. So this oddball JW Celebratory blend is decently priced.

@Punkwax
Every other guy on Reddit likes to bash JW Blue a bit and do the usual bandwagon thing.
And in my opinion, I think the regular version fo the JW Blue smells absolutely fruity and marvellous on the nose.
But on the palate, it tastes like a 10 year old, and has a burn like the Ardbeg 10.

If you do go for the JW Blue, skip the regular versions and go for the special release versions (not just some fancy box and decorations)
-few years back, the Blue Ghost version is the one to get.
-currently, there's the Blue Legendary Eight, this is the one to pick up, but it's priced at $599.

But skip straight to the JW celebratory blend when in doubt.

Omg I should work for Diageo lol
