I'm leaning toward the current Telus deal where I get the 42" TV for 3 year term.
Internet + TV bundle, but I only want to get the TV essential + sports theme pack.
But it seems like the site is advertising TV essential or "medium" choice which lets me choose 6 theme packs of channels, making the price difference of $79 - $118.
Is it possible to just add on one theme if I'm going with the 3 yr term deal?
Or is it a "take basic or take all 6 themes" with no in between kind of deal?
Site doesn't seem to let me just add on one theme.

Yea you can always add packages afterwards. There are special deals were you can't tho like the free asian channels for the year deal but that's not activate anymore. Posted via RS Mobile

You can add the packages by itself afterwards. I believe its $6 for sports then an extra $2 for sports HD.

I'm considering switching over to Telus Optik TV and internet; already on Telus grandfathered telephone.
I've only ever used Shaw and I've configured my WRT54GL router by enabling QoS making sure video streaming, a bit of http downloads, minor minor torrenting, do not disrupt my gaming experience.
I'm on Shaw High speed 10 I believe and every time my parents video stream, and I'm not talking HD streaming, my internet is "not as fast".
To those on Telus using the provided modem/router, any problems with that combination?
I just haven't been doing my research because I never had intentions to go to Telus. lol.
I figure buying a 3rd party router and configuring it, port forwarding, was all in the past now that service providers provide their own modems/router for us.

My girlfriend is using Internet 15. We stream Chinese dramas and movies while there are 3 other wireless device connected via WIFI and the TV is on. We are getting 13-14 Mbps consistently.
I have Internet 15 and it doesn't seem all that great. It's more or less like my shaw 10. Posted via RS Mobile
It's possible with the area that you live in. My cousin said he gets a bunch of disconnects per day and he has called to complain but they can't seem to fix it for him.

The area doesn't matter for TELUS services. Unless he's way out in the boonies. The only scenario I could think of where this makes sense is if all the individual lines/spare lines are defective on the strand on the pole by his house OR if he has underground service and it has to be replaced or it's not installed properly. OR he has a problem with the internal wiring that was already installed in his house.
BTW. TELUS lets you bundle you cell phone plans with your internet and tv as well... just an FYI. for those that are asking.

Last weekend, I bumped into these Telus promo guys standing outside of London Drugs,
and they offered a pretty decent internet+cable package.
So I signed up, but still waiting for them to call me to set up an appointment to install.
How long did you guys have to wait??
Or am I supposed to call them and bug them about this?
If they want their commission they should have put you through to the PRESTO/REFERRAL team. I guess just call TELUS and tell them what happened, if the sales person did put it through but the REFFERAL team just couldn't get to you yet, it will refer back to them for their commission and hopefully the put in detailed notes of what they offered you.

well, I gave Telus a call.
Told me earliest installation date they can offer is September 07.
Kind of pissed cause I have a potential tenant, but only if I can get my internet set up by Sept 01.
Almost makes me want to switch to Shaw if they can give me faster installation service..
Is it normal to sign up and wait 3 weeks for them to get their shit together?

TELUS is really growing so sometimes it takes a while, however if you call them and explain your situation and tell them that you would have to cancel your appointment because SHAW offered you install within this week... it will be enough motivation for them to fit you in

After I hung up, I thought about that... lol
Would it work every time? Cause they might actually say Sorry, it's the best we can do...
And then I'll look stupid by saying, nevermind. keep the appointment
btw, I signed a 12 month contract.
Hypothetically, if I were to cancel right now, am I able to do so without any cancellation fees?

Moved into New Condo in July and I had the choice of Getting Free Telus or Shaw for my first year. Opted to go with Telus as it came with a faster internet connection Telus 15 Vs Shaw 10. Also came with better channel choices.
So far Im very pleased with my choice. Also the installer was a nice looking lady My place was prewired so all that needed to be down was the modem and router to be installed in my closet and the HDPVR box to be plugged into the wall and tv.
