From a general perspective, I'm for competition that will benefit the lower rates, or provide better services for consumers.
I don't understand the whole "loopholes that give US companies a competitive advantage" thing (I haven't had to pay for my own cell phone bill since I can't remember when, so I really don't care all that much), but if that's actually true that would be pretty wrong.

These so-called loopholes that the incumbents are complaining about Verizon getting are similar benefits that the incumbents received from the government when they first established their network in Canada.

Who knows, apparently, after this news came about, Wind's part owner made a statement that he was/willing to look into purchasing Mobi!
Shit just got real!

Got fucked by Rogers, switched to Bell, got fucked by Bell, switched to Telus.
If I get fucked by Telus (and we all know I will), who do I switch to?

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks these extremely annoying ads are outrageous. What a fucking joke.

If I sign with Verizon, will I have my private data sent to the NSA? They were caught doing it in June to US citizens even though they were restricted. Posted via RS Mobile |

I must be pretty lucky, as I haven't been screwed over yet (unless I haven't looked closely at my account). Please do tell, it's interesting. Posted via RS Mobile |

I could go further in detail, but that's a topic for another thread.

If Verizon ever came up here and you could use the same data plan nation wide, WOW, that would be fantastic..

I've never been screwed over by any of the cellphone providers. Frankly, anyone who complains about the "outlandish" fees associated with cancelling a plan early has only themselves to blame. That information is written right in the contract that they signed, which I'm positive they never bothered reading in the first place.

I for one, as someone who's worked in the industry, welcome Verizon with open arms. Give them a hearty pat on the back.
Send them some maple syrup and a pet beaver as a starters guide to Canada.

I'm working in the mobile industry now and even though Verizon is buying out a competitor's company and bailing them out, I would welcome them.

I will say one thing: I agree with SOME of the Big 3's talking points about wanting a "level playing field" and "unfair advantages" and what not, but the one that defies logic is their saying in one breath that they welcome competition, and in the next breath saying how unfair it is that they're not allowed to bid for the smaller companies.
Think about it...

Think about it... | As Far as i know the unfair part is really aimed at the purchase of two of the four blocks of 700 MHz spectrum at the upcoming auction. If Verizon comes in and is able to buy two then either TELUS, Rogers or Bell will not be able to acquire one. 700 mhz has the best propagation characteristics and penetration abilities. It would allow current hspa+ rural areas to have LTE data with the same tower footprint from what i understand.

So far though, every commercial I've heard mentions the inability for any of the Big Three to purchase any of the small companies... which is retarded, because all that would do is REDUCE competition.
