:lawl:

downside of bringing a friend without nexus, having to worry about this shit.

PandaDog 11-03-2014 08:41 PM

My nexus appointment coming up on Nov 13 :fullofwin:

I've waited months for this...

Gas was $2.759/gal today in Sumas. Cheaper than Bellingham Costco or FM.

5 minutes to cross into US and 5 back, with 5 minute detour to 24/7 shipping.

m3thods 11-04-2014 07:09 AM

^As an update, Bellingham Costco was $2.82/gal yesterday. Funny seeing the Shell on Coast Meridian at 3.50 with everyone else around it hovering around 3.15-3.25.

Oh and for you Chipotle fans- Bellis Fair location opens on Nov. 17th.

i thought it was quite obvious that it was meant for the people that go shopping across the border since we're in the border crossing thread and not places to eat in vancouver :suspicious:

Kilinim 11-04-2014 05:51 PM

Haven't gotten gas at the Bellingham costco before. What types of payment do they take?

Just Amex. I stopped going there because of that. I like to use my Amazon.ca card to avoid the foreign currency transaction fee. Actually, I've stopped going there for so long, they may have changed their policy, LOL. Not that I want to line up at that gong show.

Nope, still only accept Amex and Costco cash cards at Costco gas

I love my Amazon.ca visa too. =D

Spectre_Cdn 11-04-2014 07:13 PM

^You can pay with your membership card and a Costco gift card. If you buy the gift card in Canada, the conversion to USD is done at the pump and is pretty reasonable.

Yes as a Chipotle fan, I am aware of this fact. As well as the upcoming location at Metrotown.

Prior to Bellis Fair, the next closest location was Burlington. Some people who cross the border as often as I do may not want to make that drive simply to partake in the delicious deliciousness that is Chipotle.

how would I prove i'm not a resident of canada without going on my foreign passport (you can only show 1 passport)?

bc, as far as i'm aware, you're 100% right... but if i come in on my british passport (i'm not a resident of canada) it might be a pain vs. coming in on my canadian... but bc i'm british, i don't have a residency card in the country i'm in (thanks EU)

ceeteezy 11-05-2014 02:16 PM

With the CDN dollar so low, is it still worth it to get gas from the states right now?

Traum 11-05-2014 02:19 PM

Gas only turned out to be ~$0.10 cheaper in PR when I went down 2 weeks ago. Not worth it unless you are already going down there for something else.

van_city23 11-05-2014 02:28 PM

i filled up in blaine on monday for 2.87 a gallon, filled the car and 2 big jerry cans for a total of 29 us gallons. Thats around $97 CAD. At 1.233 a litre, it would cost about $135 for the same amount. Saved about $45, live about 15 min drive from the border, the time i went was about 5 min wait to cross on both sides and had to pick up a couple of packages. So was worth it for me.

I think if you're only going for gas, it's still worth it if you live close enough to the border but also if you're filling up a jerry can or 2 as well.

I filled up @ .95 for 92 at Shell. That's, like, 40c/liter savings.

Is that USD $0.95/L at Shell? Cuz after conversion to Canadian dollars, you are really just looking at Cdn $1.062/L.

$1.087 per liter Canadian

It was $1.429 at the chevron close to my place. Saved 34c/l on an almost empty 95l tank.

Thirty dollar is thirty dollar yo

Traum 11-05-2014 02:42 PM

Haha, I'm glad it worked for you, esp when your tank is almost 2x as big as mine.

I find it's best if you make a trip out of it. In most cases, you're saving at least a quarter per liter compared to Vancouver gas prices.

I don't go out of my way to drive the 45 mins required to head across the border just to fill up on gas (and that's taking into account my NEXUS pass). However, I do a fair bit of US online shopping, so I find myself in the US at least once every two weeks.

PandaDog 11-05-2014 06:46 PM

Paid $0.74L (USD) for regular gas at Blaine today....

Feels great to fill up the entire car for under $29USD and getting cheapo packages at 5DPackages

Sometimes I just wish the gas tank was bigger so I can indulge on more gas savings :okay:

How's everything going on over at Point Roberts? Haven't crossed to that area since making the switch of doing everything at Blaine

Gerbs 11-05-2014 08:39 PM

2 days ago I paid 0.61 for reg and .71 for 92 for my jerry cans. Filled up my corolla for 19 dollars lol

Just looked at the BF site. I assume it's Sunday hours, so it closes at 6pm. Costco is always closed on stat holidays.

MG1 11-09-2014 05:23 PM

As long as Harbor Freight and the casinos are open, I'm good. Freddy's has early morning specials, so that's another reason to go. Winco is open 24/7. Walmart. Kohls. Trader Joes. Just to name a few places open.
