wat. Was there anything valuable in the car? I would doubt a car theif to break into a newer model Acura in an attempt to steal the car.

Pay deductible and get a kickass alarm. Just saved you $49,100. You're welcome.

HondaGuy 08-14-2013 05:01 PM

So after 3 attempts, anything valuable stolen? Hard to think why someone would break in consistently if theres nothing to steal.
Unless you say nothing has been stolen but break ins keep happening then maybe someone has a grudge on your wife or specific car?

Reason why I say that is old neighbors had their car window smashed repeatedly for 5 months straight... Other neighbors thought it must be something valuable left behind but instead someone was just smashing her window for spite or personal grudge. And its a older euro car...

Best of luck to you!
And yes, happy wife means happy life but shelling out $50k for another car doesnt mean nothing if it keeps happening....

dammit... acura is gonna go outta business!!!!

snails 08-14-2013 05:18 PM

why not spend 100$ on a proxy sensor, have it set up in 2 stages, 1st stage goes off when someone is too close to the car, 2nd stage goes off if anything inside the car moves... meaning that you can have your windows down and if someone reaches in an alarm will go off..

food for thought

meme405 08-14-2013 05:40 PM

Yeah okay OP's story makes no sense. His retarded reasoning to buy a new car aside, I bet he has the same problem with his next car, since his wife is likely leaving her purse on the passenger seat as she pops in quickly for an overpriced latte.

Like others have stated merc and lexus are going to be way more expensive to repair than your MDX. A new key for a merc costs far more than your $300 MDX repair.

Also don't bullshit us with there was nothing in the car, or there was lots of foot traffic, what time of the day was it?

I park my car at brentwood all the time when I go out, sometimes for hours on end and late into the night, and even my FX with its clearly aftermarket wheels, and aftermarket exhaust has never been touched...

+1 for getting a good alarm, would have gotten this done after the first break in since the factory alarm isn't really an alarm at all.

Also something is drawing car thieves to the car...

maybe the wife said there was nothing of value in the car but there actually was and she is too scared to tell you about it being stolen

OP, in your first post you complaint how it cost $300 to fix the door lock and how MDX didn't trigger the alarm.

And you said previously your ML was broken the same way but triggered alarm.

But doesn't matter if Benz triggered alarm or not, once thieve breaks your door lock, you'll still have to pay for it....

You'll complaint either way, doesn't matter what car

radioman 08-14-2013 05:43 PM

Should have bought an RDX.

MDX is big money, they want it!

sdubfid 08-14-2013 05:54 PM

The car got broken into on our drive way twice, both thru the same damn keyhole. Searched the car and they found nothing valuable.

Broken into at Brentwood today, thru the keyhole again. They got nothing. Again, nothing valuable in the car, not even a single penny !

When we had our ML, the siren went off when they break into the car via keyhole, on our driveway.

Well, spending almost $1000 within a year to fix that damn keyhole/door lock pisses me off.
We had 3 Mercedes parked outside on our driveway in the past decade and only got broken into once. Guess we were lucky back then! ( now only a bmw parked outside)

1. Do you leave your glove box open?

2. Are your windows tinted enough to block the view into the rear of the car?

3. Is your woman leaving her purse in the vehicle for any period of time in public?

4. Do you live in Richmond or Surrey

We had break in problems here in north Burnaby this year, our neighbours got their backyard toys stolen. We had a $40 water hose taken as well.

Nothing in glove box except insurance paper.

Nothing tinted, everything stock.

My wife do not carry hand bags nor purse.

We are in N Burnaby

Can it be integrated with the factory system?

Then I'd say that you're just having an 18 karat run of bad luck. My truck was stolen, as were two other vehicles in my parkade, though there was motive there.
Switching vehicles is not the best idea, no matter what you buy, it's still $300 up front for ICBC to process the damage when it's broken into.
