Won't Buy Another ACURA anymore

Stupid car thieves broke into my wife's MDX (the 3rd time this year) at Brentwood mall. For whoever looking to buy an Acura, stay away !! Once a screw driver punched into the keyhole, it's about $300 to get it fixed and key coded at the dealer.
*Edit - screw drive thru keyhole won't trigger any sort of alarm or siren.

Now, to keep my wife happy, guess we're heading to the Mercedes or Lexus dealership this weekend. :fuuuuu::fuuuuu:

10/10 story would read again!

604CEFIRO 08-14-2013 03:08 PM

Uhhh.... So Acura's are bad because your car is getting broken into and it costs money to fix it?

...?

Renthal 08-14-2013 03:09 PM

Do you really think a Mercedes or Lexus will be cheaper for the same repair?

GLOW 08-14-2013 03:12 PM

what if she did it to her own car to get a merc/lexus?

You are paying deductibles through ICBC right?

loong 08-14-2013 03:16 PM

you do know that mercedes or lexus is going to charge you way more than acura if it happens again.

umpadupa 08-14-2013 03:18 PM

oh ya.. cuz merc/lexus key holes are indestructible and screwdriver proof eh?

BEEB 08-14-2013 03:19 PM

we had our ML broken into the same way before, and the alarm was set off. MDX won't trigger any kind of siren (actually I don't even think there's a siren)

at least we think that car thief have less appetite for Mercedes. And a happy wife makes a happy life , for me !

bcedhk 08-14-2013 03:25 PM

Did you have anything in your MDX?

I'd be surprised if a thief wants to steal an MDX (immobilizer, kind of 'unique' on the road)

GLOW 08-14-2013 03:28 PM

park in front of starbucks/liquor store at brentwood, lots of foot traffic...or avoid that mall altogether...can find everything there somewhere else :lol

Phil@rise 08-14-2013 03:29 PM

how much do you think thats gonna cost on any other car?

z3german 08-14-2013 03:35 PM

seems more like stuffs getting stolen if its the 3rd time? really weird.......

you sure its not something as simple as having a dash cam or something that someone wants to snag? could save yourself 50k on a new car LOL

604STIG 08-14-2013 03:45 PM

3rd time? Maybe be more vigilant at not leaving any valuables visible.

there's nothing in the car visible except two bady car seats and a baby stroller in the trunk. We learnt our lessons from the 2 break ins earlier this year already. Nothing is left inside the glove box or anywhere !

My wife told me she parked right in front of Starbucks already and there's tons of traffic. We blame it mostly on the car since it's a Honda.

still gonna cost $300 but minus the wife bitching, that's costless !

gdoh 08-14-2013 04:00 PM

have you looked at why they are breaking into her car? like leaving shit in the open. or like a couple posts up suggested to park in higher foot traffic areas or spots were the car can be seen easily by people all the time not in the lot somewhere at the back.

buying a new luxury car seems kinda stupid imo

xXSupa 08-14-2013 04:05 PM

Spending $50,000 for a new car because it costs $300 to fix your current one.

Makes sense.

hirevtuner 08-14-2013 04:13 PM

maybe you should reconsider parking the car somewhere else that isn't prone to having car thieves breaking into your car and not blame what car brand you have
break-ins once or twice bad luck, break-in the 3rd time not random and might be a work of a serial car thief (thieves)

tiger_handheld 08-14-2013 04:31 PM

did they take anything? or did they stop at the door handle?

maxxxboost 08-14-2013 04:32 PM

Don't leave anything in the car! Theives are not going to break into your wife's car just cause. There must be a reason, and i'm guessing nice sunglasses, an ipod, or shopping bags maybe the reason.
