Acura is still just a fancy Honda.

Except the ES300/Camry but yeah, the way a lot of Acuras are just optioned-out Honda's, takes away from the brand image. Still love the TL-S 6spd but they should've made it rwd, the way Lexus did the IS series.

That's my own, admittedly Asian, perception.

Nothing says RWD, sporty, and nothing like a Camry or Avalon quite like a Lexus ES350... ;)

op I inspected an mdx today and would it be possible to delete the drivers keyhole to "detour" the noobs as you call it. All of the passenger doors have no keyholes and the drivers keyhole looks like you could just replace it with a blank handle piece.

that's exactly what I'm trying to do. I had inquired Lougheed Acura to replace it with a rear door handle but they don't wanna entertain that idea by saying the contour is different and stuff. But I had looked up the part number for the right side and both front and rear is the same. I'll try to replace it with a keyhole-less handle soon.

fliptuner 08-15-2013 01:56 PM

We used to do that on Civic and Accord sedans with keyless entry. Made them look way cleaner.

Replacing the whole vehicle is still more epic though. Flex dat baller status. :fullofwin:

What happens if your vehicle runs out of batteries and there is no manual access into the vehicle?

Buy a new car... I hear that Mercedes/Lexus NEVER run out of batteries!

Lexus is taking steps to remove that image too. The newest ES350 is based on the Avalon not the Camry. It was funny, I was at a dealership and the sales was very vocal in saying that the new ES is not based on the Camry any longer.

Aside from that, the ES350 is still very luxurious, quiet, comfy, reliable and generally well made even if it is not very exciting.

The new IS and GS are surprisingly good and a credible attempt to boost their sporty credentials after the LFA and the soon to be RC.

And Lexus can compete directly with the Germans in their respective categories i.e. IS against 3 series, A4, C Class; GS against 5 series, A6, E Class. Acura cannot do that as well as Lexus.

The Acura SUVs are good in general but when I think of them no one quality stands out aside from better Honda. I can't describe them as overwhelmingly luxurious (Lexus, MB), sporty (BMW), capable (Range Rover) or stylish (Audi). They have no identity.

Even Infiniti at least can play the sport/technology card.

I know that ES and Camry shared same platform but it didn't even feel like same car.

ES had way better luxury and safety features, suspension was tuned well and engine was making more power (but required premium gas) and more sound proofing as well to make it a quiet ride.

What if I were to tell you, you could buy a car, and leave it with the doors unlocked and nobody would even look twice at it. Is that something you'd be interested in?

well, replacing the vehicle isn't economical to most, but trading in a used and abused gf is ! :)
