good brake pads and rotors that are affordable? goning to do my own brakes this week. What brake pads and cheap rotors do you guys recommend. No point for me getting expensive ones since i am really bad at managing my brakes. Are Monroe brake pads at canadian tire good? how about rotors? Canadian tire used to carry Hawk pads but not anymore. They used to be 50 bucks. Where can i grab for cheap now? the pads are only 37$ and here are the rotors. PremiumOne ATE Brake Rotor | Canadian Tire http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en any advice how to remove stuck screws that are holding the old rotors on? |

Go to lordco revscene has an account there and get a set of good pads and rotors of your choice. The discount is based off what you are buying but its around 30% off. Please get some decent pads these are your brakes they stop your car maybe you don't care but don't coming crying that you couldn't stop and hit someone else. To remove the screws in the rotor best tool to use is a impact driver. $20 princess auto http://www.princessauto.com/pal/en/I...-Set/8311615.p |
Good luck with eBay brand, the market is flooded with rotors and pads made in developing countries, there was a news coverage in HK showing a brake factory in southern China. They found out remanufactured rotors and so-called drilled rotors, the reporter even found fake Brembo brakes at their shops. Not sure how likely these ebay brake will fail on you, but if it does it kills you. |
even as consumerable/wear items don't cheap out on tires and brakes...better yet manage your braking habits coast the red light in right lane...less wear on your car and better milage flame suit on |
Order from the US, pick up in Blaine. rockauto.com I picked up Centric brake rotors, really good price, works great. They come with painted rotor hats so they won't rust over time. |

In some investigations (and seizures), they found brake rotors that were made with wood and sawdust. Never skimp out on the car parts that revolve around safety. Order from a reputable brand. I put Centric Rotors with Hawk Ceramic Pads on my Pontiac G8. Huge difference over stock and not really that expensive. |
try autoanything.com |
thanks I'll try those places. Yeah I don't trust eBay when it comes to safety parts for my vehicle. What else do I need when doing my brakes? C clamp, impact driver and that's it? I heard you need a paste but not sure what and where to apply it. This will be my first experience since I want to learn myself. Posted via RS Mobile |
Wow the prices are so cheap there. Which basic brake kit with drilled or slotted rotors and pads can I buy there that are good enough for average driver. Quote:

How about we start with the basics... what kind of car do you have? |

akebono or nisin. you can find them online also off ebay but those are the OEM manufacturers of your honda brakes, they're just missing the honda packaging. its a good choice and if you have good parts you wont have to change them for a long time, depending how you drive. i remember my dad use to warp the rotors all the time in his v6 accord because he kept stomping on crappy jobber parts. you dont need drilled or slotted unless you're trying to cool off your pads because of the intense daily driving you're doing (im assuming you're not autocrossing or lapping) |

quiet, nice initial bite, relatively cheap -- perfect for the DD And by cheap I mean cheap in the states, they're nearly $80 for a set at lordco with my dad's discount. In the states they're in the $30-$50 range |
if you really only care about price, try R1concepts.com I've purchased multiple rotors/pads from them in the past and never had a problem |
If you're willing to pick up from Blaine, you can also try autohausaz.com bmaparts.com |

Bought tons of parts from them and shipped to Blaine, no problems at all and awesome prices. |
so most of the links you guys posted a one, you bought off those websites before right? I might not have time to buy them and wait for shipment because my brakes are almost completely gone lol. Just wondering anywhere here has good prices and reliable quality like Canadian tire and Lord Co. Posted via RS Mobile |

If I'm in a bind, amazon.com ships fast too -- just sign up for prime and cancel it after you order. The amazon.com vehicle fitment guide isn't 100% accurate -- so always read the customer reviews/responses before ordering. Lordco carries the brand I suggested, but their prices are a bit higher. If you are ordering rotors and brakes its definitely worth your time to order from the states -- i replaced my front brake pads and rotors for $100 with quality parts -- was quoted ~$220 taxes in locally for generic/oem quality parts, with a friend's mechanic discount @ lordco YMMV, but if there was a place offering rockauto.com/amazon.com prices in the lower mainland, I'm sure we'd know of it lol. |
