They better put something other than a EJ257 in that thing. Same engine since '04. Lazy Subaru.

TOPEC 01-03-2014 04:27 PM

whats wrong with the ej257?

it's not that anything is wrong with it, but they shouldn't be using same engine over and over again.

I wouldn't be happy if I'm buying a brand new 2015 vehicle and get 2004 engine.

restricted stroke makes for low hp and heats up quick

but I still love them

hk20000 01-03-2014 10:01 PM

New WRX already has the FA20 engine in it. I don't think the STI will be EJ any more.

I don't know how restricted stroke equals low hp?
HP= rpm x torque / 5252

and generally speaking low stroke = high rpm
(i think?)

Here's another leak, it's from a Subaru parts catalog.

whoa. how did that get there lol

Ronin 01-07-2014 08:24 PM

At first I liked the shape but now it seems a bit like the previous model Civic...

I like the aggressive front end, though.

death_blossom 01-07-2014 09:42 PM

The 2015 WRX is an FA20 based 2.0 turbo making 268hp or so. Direct injection will definitely push the STi in then right direction for engine technology. I'm guessing this STi will make near 350hp.
