Advertised as a 1972 Super Beetle, but it's definitely not a 1972. The car is a 1973 as based on the tail lights, bumper brackets, rear apron and exhaust. 1973 could be either super beetle or standard beetle, can't tell without seeing the front end (they're the same from A-pillar back).

Just got updated photos from the seller. Definitely a '73 Super Beetle. Will need major body work as the passenger-side heater channel is very rotten. Body needs to be braced via welding, and removed from the pan to repair it. It will probably need pans as well. Anyone is welcome to try and snag it, but I'll be making an offer this afternoon based on the condition of the car.

I strongly advise, however, that unless an interested person has deep knowledge of Aircooled VWs (or deep pockets) this one is to be avoided.

Appreciated!

My offer is in. Would make great use of all it's bits, but if I'm honest I'd be cutting it up. My next project needs a '73 donor, but I'll start with a California rust-free shell. I've had enough of repairing major rust on CDN beetles. Sounds like there is a gent driving to this one right now with a trailer, probably a friend of mine from Abbotsford. We shall see...

Here's another, as per your sig:

HONDA CIVIC K20 SWAP

As far as that ITR goes, first thing I'd do is pm: http://www.revscene.net/forums/members/e-40six-4443/

and get the lowdown on what was done to it. It would seem that the current owner hasn't done much since he bought it. I mean hell, half the add is copy/pasted.

ITRs will always be special but I don't know whether their value will rise significantly. The NSX is similarly special and rather than appreciating to any real degree they've held a very steady value, unlike their steadily appreciating German counterparts of the same era - the BMW E30 M3 and Porsche 993. to bring another Japanese sports car into the equation, I think Nissan GTRs have essentially held a steady value as well. I predict the same thing will happen with the ITR. In a way I hope this prediction doesn't happen though... even though it would hurt my chances of owning an ITR, I would nice to see the chassis get more mainstream recognition.

Unfortunately, you're correct. It is very hard for japanese cars to see true collector/classic status. American muscle did it, and euros obviously do it (your examples).
For japanese cars, some will appreciate, but they will have to be very special (Eg. v. low milage + rare colour combo NSX), maybe insanely low milage stock ITR, but on the whole, those kinds of cars are just going to maintain their value over time, not skyrocket at all.

edit: NA2 NSX-R anyone? http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/used...001/index.html

A bit off topic now but since we're chatting, this is the highest price ITR I have seen for sale: 1997 Acura Integra Type R For Sale | MCG Marketplace

Definitely a holy grail for some(me included) but no where near worth that price.

I agree, it's not worth the price they're asking, but its perfect so its possible that it will sell to someone willing to pay up for possibly one of the best examples in existence. Wow.

Let's see pics of your ITR, White Rocket.

I don't know much about ITRs, but can you explain what makes this one 'perfect? Looks like a normal stock ITR with medium kms (44k miles?)

most of the ITR's as of late hover between the 10-15 range for north american / canadian spec cars.

couple rebuilds and super burnt out ones for 7500...

I have a feeling in another ten years, the car may have a cult like the e30 M3. (at least for the lhd ones anyways)

I accidentally read 4400 miles rather than 44000 miles so its obviously not as great as I thought. As jmanhas said though; it's all stock, very low mileage (by ITR standards), showroom condition, champ white, 97 spec, and a very low production number. The average ITR is molested and has over 100000 miles.. a fair number do not their have original engines.. etc.

Car's probably gone by now. I would have totally bought it if I did not spend so much money on my GSR recently. It's a sweet deal considering SumAznGuys sold his shell with a blown motor, rebuilt status and rust for ~3k IIRC. I think the same guy is trying to flip sumaznguys for 8k lol

Only good for a track car, but not worth 8k for body work it needs
